10 Top Rarest Fortnite Skins and 5 Are Never Coming Back
What are the rarest Fortnite skins? Across the long history of the game, there have been quite a few skin releases that basically nobody has!
Fortnite has no shortage of skins. Itâs become pretty much the thing the game is known for, having a roster of crazy characters. Both those fresh to the game and from across pop culture. But not all of them are rare.
Players can show up as Goku in a squad with superheroes and a giant banana. What about the rarest Fortnite skins though? The rarest skins in Fortnite Chapter 5 and 6 arenât the rarest in Chapter 2 or 1.
Weâre going to run through all of the Fortnite Chapter 5 rarest skins. Thereâs been a lot of changes lately with Fortnite bringing back so many older skins. What are now the rarest skins in Fortnite?
Top 10 Rarest Fortnite Skins
10. The Reaper
The Reaper is a particularly iconic Fortnite skin. But itâs actually still one of the rarest skins in Fortnite Chapter 5!
This skin was part of an early Battle Pass. Very few of the current Fortnite player base were actually playing back then. For a long time, this skin was known as John Wick. Eventually, Fortnite got its own real John Wick. This has made the Reaper a bit redundant. However, a lot of people still appreciate the original Fortnite version of the skin over the official one.
In keeping with the rarest Fortnite skins, itâs a bit plain. Itâs quant to think at one point players coped with plain skins that look vaguely like characters, not just waiting for the real crossover. However, the Reaper has definitely outshined the real John Wick in playerâs hearts.
9. Honor Guard
This is another skin that is a bit hard to get, thanks to a tie-in deal. This one was released alongside the Honor View 20 phone. Do you decide which smartphone to buy based on a Fortnite skin? Thatâs basically what you had to do to get this skin.
The Honor Guard skin is definitely one of Fortnite rarest skins but also the most expensive. If you really wanted to grab this skin, it would have cost a lot more than even the pricier item shop picks.
Deals like this became more common over time and theyâre always rare skins in the end. Since Honor Guard was one of the earlier tie-ins like this, itâs become an uncommon sight across lockers.
8. Double Helix
Our next rarest Fortnite skin is the Double Helix, another that was bundled with an expensive electronic.
This one came from buying a Nintendo Switch bundle that had the Fortnite skin included. The bundle isnât available anymore, so it might not ever be coming back. You may see it in more lobbies on Switch than on other platforms. Although, modern Fortnite on Switch has massive performance issues right now.
Itâs one of the rarest Fortnite skins that a lot of players got through buying the giveaway code. Although, some players probably did buy a Switch just for this skin too.
7. Black Knight
The Black Knight Skin was part of the Chapter 1 Season 2 Battle Pass. While itâs Season 2 skin, this was the very first Battle Pass in the game.
Players had to get pretty much to the top of the Battle Pass if they wanted to unlock the Black Knight. The player base was smaller, and no one knew that Fortniteâs skins would still matter later. This means the odds of running into a Black Knight are really pretty low. Itâs one of the rarest Fortnite skins.
Whatâs nice about Black Knight is itâs both old and rare, but also actually a cool skin. Itâs usually either rare or fun with Fortnite. This is one of those special old skins though that went a bit further in its design.
6. Reflex
Up next is Reflex. One of the rarest Fortnite skins for sure, but also a rare one thatâs had a really weird journey.
To begin with, Reflex was packaged with a physical icon. Pretty common for the Fortnite rarest skins. It came with a GeForce Nvidia GPU. You could play with decent Fortnite settings on that. However, this wasnât the only way to get it.
By mistake, this skin was later released in the item shop. Although, players who got the original then got an extra style. Itâs a bit of a strange case where Epic brought it back and made it less rare. However, itâs still not a common sight.
5. Tart Tycoon â Rarest Skin in Fortnite Tournaments
The Bad Apple skin is a really unique case. This one was a prize in a tournament in Chapter 2. Itâs one of the rarest skins in terms of how much it gets used, strange for a free skin. However, the stats support this now being one of the rarest Fortnite skins.
Tart Tycoon is kind of weird since anyone could get it. A lot of people just didnât take them up on the offer apparently, and this ranks among the least used.
4. Solid Gold Peely
The Solid Gold Peely is a bit of a stranger pick to see on a list of the rarest Fortnite skins. We donât mean Agent Peely in general. But the Solid Gold skin style specifically is special.
This version of Peely has become pretty rare over time. Itâs only from the Chapter 2 Battle Pass, so not as old as most of those here. It would be difficult to call this or Midas from that Pass the rarest. Maybe one of the most influential Passes for FN characters, but not a rare pass.
However, this was one of the first experiments with stretch goals. To get Peely to solid gold, you had to massively over level past 200. A target a lot of players just didnât run into. These super styles were hidden, so players didnât know they were there, and the goal seemed arbitrarily large.
3. Galaxy â Top Rarest Fortnite Skins from Tie-Ins
The Galaxy skin is definitely one of the rarest Fortnite skins. This one is yet another that came with a Smartphone but one thatâs got quite the reputation for its huge price tag. It was available as part of a Samsung Galaxy Note 9 or Galaxy Tab S4 purchase. Players had to go in on a pretty big commitment just to get the Galaxy skin.
This one isnât even available in the bundle anymore. This means everyone is completely locked out of Galaxy.
2. Renegade Raider
Renegade Raiser was one of the first skins in Fortnite and for a while, it occupied the top spot on any rarest Fortnite skins list. It was available in Season 1. Players had to max out their level and spend V-Bucks to get it. This has come back every now and again, but itâs still in one of the rarest Fortnite skins.
A new version of it was in the Fortnite OG Battle Pass, but the original is rarer. Raider is actually one of the most recognizable skins considering how old it is. Itâs become one of Fortniteâs most iconic.
The Renegade Raider skin could even be the cover star for a physical Fortnite release, but you could only get it back in Season 1.
1. Aerial Assault Trooper â Rarest Skins in Fortnite Store
The Aerial Assault Trooper is another skin that occupies the rarest slot thanks to how old it is. You had to grab this skin in Season 1 Chapter 1. It had both a level requirement and a V-Buck requirement.
The old Item Shop worked differently, but this just made it rarer than more modern Battle Passes. It looks a lot like a default, though, which might be why so few players bought it. This has all made the Aerial Assault Trooper one of the rarest Fortnite skins.
Rarest Fortnite Skins That Arenât Coming Back
There are some skins which will widely owned, can never come back. Or seemingly canât. These will get nothing but rarer over time.
The rarest skins have had a slot of change since OG. That brought back mythically rare skins like Black Widow and Stranger Things. However, there are still some which likely wonât be coming back any time soon, the Rarest skins in Fortnite.
These are largely skins that thereâs a definitive reason for being kept out of the Item Shop. Although, these reasons could change in the future. Weâve seen previously exiled skins like the Plague Doctor return recently.
These are some of the Fortnite skins youâre least likely to see back any time soon.
1. Will Smith
A Will Smith skin was included as part of a movie tie-in. This one also seems to have been permanently vaulted after the incident at the 2022 Academy Awards. Players quickly figured out how to slap others as Will Smith. This kind of thing is probably why Epic has it locked away for now.
2. Travis Scott Skins
Travis Scott is another real person who has been vaulted from Fortnite after an incident. While he wasnât the first musician to perform a live set in Fortnite, heâs one of the best remembered. This one is strange as it turned out to be vaulted for a different reason than everyone though.
Originally, fans thought this was missing thanks to Travis Scottâs Astroworld. That was an event where a number of attendees died or were injured in a large crowd crush. Since the skin basically vanished after this.
However, Epic higher-ups have personally confirmed thatâs not the reason. Instead, itâs just because Travis hasnât called them back. Coming so early this was before Epic got the same freedom to use Icon licences forever, and Travis Scott hasnât approved ti returning.
3. The Other Referee Skin
This one is weird, but it might be the rarest Fortnite skin for the last few years. Fortnite has hosted a few NFL crossovers. For the second one, Epic made a new referee skin. They then gave this for free to some content creators early to promote the NFL skins.
When the time came actually to release them, though, Epic decided it was too close to the existing skin and abandoned it. Outside of content creator wardrobes, this one is locked away forever!
4. All Black Boundless Super Hero Skin
The Boundless Super Hero skin has become completely synonymous with sweaty Fortnite skins. However, one version canât be accessed anymore.
Players initially made an all-black superhero which camouflaged too well. If you thought the current sweat skins were a pain, this one was something else. Epic removed this customization option after players began to use it to gain a competitive advantage.
5. Chinese Exclusive Skins
Fortnite China was different. It has some slightly different versions of skins, elims werenât elims, you didnât have to be the last man standing to win, and there were no paid cosmetics.
Since Chinaâs regulation on in-game purchases prevented monetizing the game, no one had to pay for skins. So, there could be no cross-mingling between this version of the game and the normal one. This meant when Fortnite China went offline, these exclusive skins went with them.
