Fifteen passengers are in critical condition following an accident on the Kyerewere stretch of the Nsawam-Suhum road.
The accident involved a Mercedes Benz Sprinter bus travelling from Kumasi to Accra.
The accident occurred when the driver, who was reportedly overspeeding, veered off the road after the driver attempted to apply the brakes upon realizing a tyre had burst.
This caused the vehicle to lose control, with three passengers falling onto the road.
The three were swiftly rushed to a nearby hospital.
An eyewitness in an interview said, “I was eating when I heard the loud sound of a tyre burst. When I went to check, I saw it was a Sprinter. Due to the overspeeding, the driver lost control while trying to stop the vehicle, and three passengers were thrown from the car.
“I quickly rushed to help one woman whose leg was trapped between the doors. The vehicle was speeding from Kumasi to Accra, and the tyre burst causing it to veer into the bush,” he narrated.
Meanwhile, the police are currently on-site, managing the situation and conducting investigations.
This comes after three persons were confirmed dead following a dreadful accident at Winneba junction in the Central Region.
This was after a Toyota Vitz with registration number GW 907-24 collided with a Toyota Hiace passenger car with registration number AW 78-22.
In an interview, the Winneba Municipal Fire Service Commander D.0.2 Fredrick Adu-Poku revealed that the driver of the Toyota Vitz tried to overtake a tricycle in front of him and in the process collided with the O.A express passenger car from Accra to Obuasi.
