Diptyque Rose Roche Eau de Parfum

I have a few rose perfumes that I consider to be my personal favorite fragrances of all time, and Diptyque’s latest has just joined the list. It’s not too sweet—which can veer grandma-ish or kiddish—and has an interesting smokiness by way of patchouli. If you’re looking for a winter-ready rose, search no further. —Ariana Yaptangco, senior beauty editor

Lake & Skye 11 11 Vanilla Eau de Parfum

Lake & Skye’s latest take on their vanilla perfume is their yummiest—and coziest—yet. With notes of vanilla crème, marshmallow, fresh star apple, sea salt, and their signature musk, one spritz perfectly captures the feeling of waking up to a fresh cup of hot cocoa while still warm in bed. It’s everything I love about the coziest time of year wrapped up in such a delicious scent I wish I could eat it for dessert. —Danielle Sinay, associate beauty editor

Glossier You Rêve Eau de Parfum

Glossier You is a perfect fragrance…or that’s what I thought until I smelled Glossier You Rêve. Rêve builds on You’s subtle sweet and earthy notes, adding in plum butter, sandalwood, and buttercream. The result is a musky and addictive scent perfect for wintertime. —Channing Smith, designer

Burberry Goddess Eau de Parfum Intense

Just in time for brisk nights and campfires comes Burberry’s Goddess Eau de Parfum Intense, which builds upon the trio of vanillas in the original scent along with lavender essence. It also adds a fourth vanilla—vanilla wood—as well as patchouli to give you a woodsy scent that’s balanced by the femininity of a distinct vanilla. It’s a mesmerizing blend, and perfect as you transition your fragrances from fall to winter. —Jessica Radloff, senior West Coast editor

Phlur Somebody Wood Eau de Parfum

After using modern fragrance brand Phlur’s bodywash for six months, I took the plunge and ordered a bottle of the brand’s eau de parfum in the same scent, Somebody Wood. As the name infers, it’s an intimate, wintry scent with notes of saffron, cyclamen, sandalwood, moss, vanilla musk, and cedar. Unlike other scents that bill themselves as woodsy, this one is surprisingly subtle. You won’t know I’m approaching from 12 feet away (the only beauty faux pas I subscribe to), and it doesn’t leave a haze of thick musk in its wake. Phlur’s formulation has a particularly lightweight effect that provides just a hint of warmth to the skin and calls to mind a cozy cabin on a cold night. —Perrie Samotin, digital director

Diptyque Bois Corsé Eau de Parfum

It’s always a good day when Diptyque drops something new and right now, I’m feeling very celebratory about Les Essences de Diptyque collection. Inspired by elements from nature like coral and mother-of-pearl, each perfume tells a whole story in every spritz. I honestly love all five scents but if I had to pick just one, it would be Bois Corsé. Inspired by tree bark (it might not sound the most glamorous, but trust me when I say that this is a very expensive-smelling take on bark), it’s rich, smooth, and exactly what I want to smell like this time of year. Take the creamiest sandalwood, mix it with tonka bean and black coffee, add a hint of dark chocolate (not listed in the notes but I swear I smell it), and you have Bois Corsé. I’ll be wearing this on repeat all winter long. —Sarah Y. Wu, beauty contributor

Byredo De Los Santos Eau de Parfum

De Los Santos by Byredo is unquestionably my essential winter fragrance. The spicy combination of cardamom and cinnamon transports you to a snug evening by the fireplace. The harmonious blend of creamy vanilla and smooth leather wraps you in an elegant winter coat of fragrance. Lastly, the lingering notes of smoky incense and amber infuse the perfect touch of warmth and sophistication. —Leilani Mcquay, commerce producer

Want to embrace your inner femme fatale this winter? Then your search stops now, because both Glamour art director Allie Folino and I swear by Charlotte Tilbury’s super sexy—and aptly named—More Sex perfume for the job. With notes of velvety musk, leather accord, and sensual sandalwood, it’s warm, spicy, and mysterious—peak dark-feminine-energy vibes. —D.S.

Dior J’adore L’Or Eau de Parfum

I’m a huge fan of the original J’adore, an elegant floral scent that feels timeless no matter the season, but I will definitely be switching this winter to the earthier, muskier version of the fragrance. L’Or has the same beautiful floral elements by way of centifolia rose, jasmine grandiflorum, and orange blossom, balanced out by heady almond, mango, and banana. Delicious and warm—perfect for the holidays. —A.Y.

10/20

Maison Francis Kurkdjian Baccarat Rouge 540 Eau de Parfum

I first smelled this perfume in middle school on the mom of a friend—it was her signature scent—but at that point I was way more interested in wearing Clinique Happy and Gap Grass than I was in asking what her fragrance was. As I got older (and as the perfume became more ubiquitous), I started getting addictive little whiffs of it and I finally asked an elegant woman at a wedding four years ago what she was wearing. From that moment on, it became my favorite wintry scent. With notes of jasmine, saffron, and cedarwood, it almost has a creamy finish. And while it’s definitely a (big) splurge (there’s a reason TikTok has declared it the “rich-girl perfume,” which I am not), a little goes a long way. The lotion is also a pinch more affordable and great for layering. Not looking to spend that kind of coin? Ariana Grande’s Cloud really is a great alternative. —Brie Schwartz, commerce director

Maya Fragrances No. 2

I’ve told anyone who will listen how much I love Maya’s No. 1 fragrance, as I consider it one of the best spring and summer fragrances of all time. The only problem? I felt like I couldn’t wear it once the weather cooled down. Fortunately, Maya’s newest addition to their collection, No. 2, is perfect for wintertime. Like No. 1, it’s fresh, soft, and delicate, and not so overpowering it triggers migraines or skin reactions (which is a problem I have with perfume). Instead, it smells warm, airy, and elevated, and exactly like freshly cut roses. It’s sexy and sultry in all the right ways and floral without feeling like it’s your grandma’s. It’s so good I rub it on my wrists before bed sometimes, and I almost don’t want to tell you about it because I want to gatekeep it, but know that’s wrong. Everyone deserves to smell like a rose! —D.S.

Perfumehead Cosmic Cowboy Extrait De Parfum

Cinnamon bark, orris butter, whiskey, cacao, and amber. It sounds like a hot velvety winter cocktail you might want to sip by the hearth, but I’m actually describing the decadent aroma of Perfumehead’s Cosmic Cowboy. Douse your chest in the smoky sweet stuff at night and you’ll leave a trail of salivating admirers wherever you go. Or pair it with a spritz of Canadian Tuxedo for an added touch of freshness during the daytime à la Perfumehead founder Daniel Giles. For me, this heavenly combination is holy grail material. —Hanna Lustig, contributor

Maison Louis Marie No.09 Vallée de Farney

I’m drawn to fresh fragrances year-round, and Maison Louis Marie’s Vallée de Farney is a new favorite. Notes of grapefruit and orange might skew warm-weather, but citrus reminds me just as much of the holidays; spiced with black pepper, musk, and cedar, the scent only gets warmer and more complex as it settles. A few dabs of the oil—which lasts forever, by the way—evoke winter’s botanical side without going too chilly or sentimental. Amid the gray doldrums of the season, it’s a rich, verdant reminder that spring is never too far away. —Jake Smith, commerce editor

By Rosie Jane Dulce Eau de Parfum

Once the temperature drops below 50 degrees (a.k.a. “cold” in my LA-native mind), I start reaching for the soft, sweet, and nostalgic scent that is Dulce, which evokes the feeling of watching a Hallmark Christmas movie by the fire. Featuring two types of decadent and rich vanilla, chocolate, and hinoki wood, one spritz smells and feels like dipping freshly baked cookies in vanilla coffee on a chilly winter morning over winter break. No notes! —D.S.

15/20

Parfums De Marly Oriana Eau De Parfum

If you want to feel like a snow angel descended to Earth, wear Oriana on repeat this winter. It’s one of my most complimented scents all year round, but something about this delicious blend of marshmallow, orange blossom, black currant, and ambrette lends itself especially well to cold weather. It’s sparkling, sugary, and just incredibly pretty. The fact that the bottle looks like something out of Marie Antoinette’s wardrobe doesn’t hurt either. —S.Y.W.

16/20

Trudon Vixi

Trudon’s Vixi is the most luminous winter fragrance, with notes of cardamom, natural Italian petitgrain essence, balkan sage, sandalwood, cedarwood, and jasmine. It feels like a cozy night in a luxury chalet or at a holiday party, and, most important, is light without being overpowering. —J.R.

17/20

Ellis Brooklyn APPLE LOVE Eau de Parfum

Founder Bee Shapiro wanted to create a fragrance love letter to New York City with her latest perfume, a juicy apple-scented fragrance featuring notes of peach skin, muguet, plum blossom, sugarcane, and vanilla. The holidays in New York are unmatched, so you best believe I’ll be leaning into the spirit with a few spritzes of this perfume. —A.Y.

Krigler Good Fir 11

Christmas tree, but make it fashion(ably fragrant). A fresh, woodsy blend inspired by pine needles with notes of pink pepper, bitter orange, ginger, nutmeg, vetiver, and musk, this fragrance is “giving” forest in all the best ways, instantly transporting me back to winters with my grandma in Colorado. —D.S.

19/20

Tory Burch Cosmic Wood Eau de Parfum

Featuring a warm blend of spicy cardamom, jasmine, vetiver, smoky wood, patchouli, and sage, Cosmic Wood is peak cozy vibes. It’s basically a snug scarf in the form of a scent, so it’s no surprise that everyone stops me to ask what I’m wearing during NYC wintertime. —D.S.

Elorea Be By My Side

I’m obsessed with this ginseng-based perfume, which feels like a comforting hug on gray days. It’s inspired by the Korean word hūnoni, which means “missing someone dearly.” The blend of ginseng, rose, forget-me-nots, suede, and vanilla melds together for a skin scent like nothing else in my collection: warm, cozy, and addicting. —S.Y.W.
