On February 8, 2024, 7:50 AM

The Elephants of Ivory Coast will face off with the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

After weeks of exciting action at the tournament, all is set for the final in the upcoming weekend.

Today, the two semi-final games have been successfully cleared as scheduled by tournament organisers.

In the second semi-final game, Ivory Coast locked horns with DR Congo in a game played at Stade Olympique Alassane Ouattara.

At the end of a thrilling contest, a solitary strike from Sébastien Haller after he was assisted by Max Gradel was the decider, giving Ivory Coast a narrow win over DR Congo.

Before that game, Nigeria had beaten South Africa 4-2 on penalties in the first semi-final game.

Courtesy of the two results, the host nation Ivory Coast will now face Nigeria in the finals of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

That big game will be played on Sunday, February 11.
