2024 NBA Finals MVP odds: Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown favored; Holiday third
The NBA Finals are underway, which means that bettors are fully invested in the Finals MVP market.
Boston’s Jayson Tatum has long been the Finals MVP favorite, but as of Tuesday, he was tied atop the board with teammate Jaylen Brown, who won the Larry Bird Trophy as the Eastern Conference Finals MVP.
On Wednesday, Tatum had overtaken the lead once again.
Also moving up the board is their teammate Jrue Holiday, who on Monday was behind Mavs superstar Luka Doncic.
Now, those two have flip-flopped.
Here’s a look at the latest odds for Finals MVP at FanDuel Sportsbook as of June 12.
NBA Finals MVP
Jayson Tatum, Celtics: +140 (bet $10 to win $24 total)
Jaylen Brown, Celtics: +155 (bet $10 to win $25.50 total)
Jrue Holiday, Celtics: +500 (bet $10 to win $60 total)
Luka Doncic, Mavericks: +600 (bet $10 to win $70 total)Â
FOX Sports’ Skip Bayless took notice of the play of one Jrue Holiday on Sunday night.Â
The Celtics famously landed Holiday after the Bucks, prior to this past season, traded the veteran guard in a deal that paved the way for Damian Lillard to come to Milwaukee.
In Game 1, Holiday had 12 points, eight rebounds, five assists and a steal, before following that up with a monster Game 2, in which he tallied 26 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, a block and a steal.Â
He has yet to commit a turnover in the NBA Finals.Â
With that, Holiday’s odds to win Finals MVP skyrocketed all the way up to +700. Those odds were longer than +4000 entering Sunday.
It could help Holiday’s case that through two games, Tatum is averaging just 17 points on 31.6% shooting. And even though he’s averaging 10 rebounds and 8.5 assists, he’s also committing 4.5 turnovers a night in the Finals.Â
On Monday’s “Undisputed,” former Celtic and NBA Finals MVP Paul Pierce called Holiday the key ingredient to Boston’s success.Â
“Jrue Holiday is outplaying Kyrie [Irving]. Who would have thought that coming into this series? You know Jrue is a solid player and great defensively — but he’s outscoring Kyrie and outrebounding him. He’s doing everything better than Kyrie.”
Through the first two games of the Finals, Irving is putting up 14 points per game on just 35% shooting.Â
