Player Summary:
Senior. Transfer from Louisville. Starts at RG. Average in pass protection, below-average as a run blocker, good first step. Big, barrel-chested OT; has a very thick upper half and has added strength there since last year. Looks out of shape and has a thick midsection but still manages to make it work. Has made big strides forward since last season. As a run blocker, he is below-average. Plays with good balance and generally stays off the ground but struggles to latch onto defenders and drive them off the ball and get vertical push. Lunges and overextends in his posture in both phases of the game, questionable core strength, lacks good hand placement/strike timing as a run blocker. Overpursues/overextends at the 2nd level instead of playing within his frame. Lets defenders cross his face too much in the run game. In pass protection, he is average. Can mirror rushers and keep them between his feet, though his base narrows on initial contact. Does a good job of reacting to twists and stunts. Last year got pushed and walked back in pass pro, collapsing the pocket, but did better v. Miami-Ohio. Deficiencies are more athletic in nature; plays with good effort in both phases of the game.
