A great concealer can brighten dark circles even when you only had a few hours of sleep. To help you find the best ones, I spoke with a handful of makeup artists and Glamour editors for their recommendations. We found options that can address dark spots, blemishes, acne, and more. The best overall concealer on our list is the Urban Decay Quickies Concealer because it’s highly pigmented, not too thick, and can be used for a full face of makeup—no foundation or tinted moisturizer required. But, we also found budget-friendly options like the e.l.f. 16HR Camo Concealer that our shopping editor says seriously brightens, plus other types of coverage levels.

We also looked at how well the concealer played with our variety of skin types and tones, if it matched our undertones, and if it hydrated dry areas or kept our oily areas shine-free.

Best Overall: Urban Decay Quickies Concealer

The best concealers are the ones you can use as foundation, which is why this pick is at the top of our list. The Quickies concealer comes with a large doe-foot applicator and concealer brush to easily blend it into the skin for a natural, full coverage finish. The formula contains vitamin E to help soften and nourish the skin, and is natural yet mattifying, making it suitable for oily-skin types that tend to run into issues with makeup cracking or fading throughout the day.

Glamour commerce writer Alanna Martine Kilkeary is a massive fan of this concealer because it replaces her everyday foundation. “Whenever I wear this concealer, I don’t find the need to layer on extra foundation or tinted moisturizer for coverage: it simply does it all. I love how creamy the consistency is and how easily it blends onto the skin. Plus, I never need to re-apply it, even after an 8-hour work day.”

Pros: Large doe foot applicator provides more full coverageCons: The built-in blending brush is a little rough and difficult to useFinish: Natural MatteShades: 24Size: 0.55 ozOriginal image by Glamour commerce writer Alanna Martine Kilkeary

Thanks to its matte finish, you can use this super-pigmented formula to conceal, contour, and highlight skin. It also contains a combo of avocado oil (to moisturize) and kaolin clay (to control oil), making it a winner if you have combination or oily skin.

“I have combination, oily skin so I need a concealer that controls shine. This e.l.f. concealer checks that box and it also never creases. I have medium skin tone and a neutral undertone, and the medium sand shade matches perfectly. It keeps my undereye bright all day. Pro tip: A little goes a long way, so apply very small dots first,” says Glamour senior commerce editor Jenifer Calle.

Pros: Sets quickly; visibly brightensCons: Thicker consistency so can emphasize fine lines once it dries downFinish: MatteShades: 23Size: 0.3 oz.Original image by Glamour senior commerce editor Jenifer Calle

A skin-care-minded formula, this actively nourishes the skin barrier with hyaluronic acid aloe vera, while the pigments within provide buildable, flexible coverage that moves with skin. Translation? No creasing or settling here.

This pick is another go-to of Glamour’s Kilkeary’s because it’s long lasting and full coverage. It’s great whether you’re trying to conceal dark circles, raised pimples, or hide the appearance of fine lines. “I always find myself going back to this concealer when I need something to help conceal breakouts or make me look more awake. The neutral-undertoned hues are perfect for my olive skin tone and blend seamlessly into my makeup look, without appearing too warm or too cool. I like the consistency because it’s actually extremely lightweight,” she says.

Best for Dry Skin: Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer

Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer

Original video by Glamour reviewer Brigitt Earley

Unlike the brand’s Soft Matte concealer, this award-winning formula has a radiant finish, making it a better option for dry skin types. It’s infused with a blend of skin-friendly botanicals, too, like grape seed extract and vitamin E, to leave skin better once you rinse it off. It offers medium-to-full buildable coverage and has light reflecting pearls that correct discoloration and highlight the skin.

“My days are jam-packed and very long, so I need a concealer that can go the distance,” says Glamour contributor Brigitt Earley. “This one not only has great staying power (I regularly work out while wearing this without having to do touch-ups afterward!), but also has a luminous finish that helps brighten my tired, dark under eyes. I also love that it’s infused with extras like vitamin E to help keep my dry, aging skin more hydrated—key for preventing any creasing.”

Best for Melanated Skin: Danessa Myricks Beauty Yummy Skin Lift & Flex Hydrating Concealer

Danessa Myricks Beauty Yummy Skin Lift & Flex Hydrating Concealer

Original video by Glamour reviewer Jessica Fields

We love this concealer because it comes in an array of shades for melanated skin that suit cool, warm, and neutral undertones. “Concealer is one of the makeup items I rely on daily to cover my dark circles. That said, I’m always looking for something that offers a good amount of coverage plus skincare ingredients to diminish the discoloration. With Danessa Myricks’ Skin Lift & Flex Hydrating Concealer, I was able to get both,” says Glamour contributor Jessica Fields. “The formula was creamy and went on easily, which is always a good sign. But it also blended out smoothly and gave me amazing coverage with just a few dots. I used the color 12, which is described as a tan with golden undertones, and was worried at first it would be too golden. However, upon blending it out, it proved to be the perfect balance of color-correcting and brightening hues. Beyond the initial look, the concealer wore well throughout the day and didn’t feel cakey or dry. Instead, my under eyes appeared smooth and hydrated. Needless to say, this concealer will be staying in my rotation, especially for my foundation-free days,” she says.

Best for Sensitive Skin: Tower 28 Swipe All-Over Hydrating Serum Concealer

If you have dry skin, the makeup artists we spoke to say a concealer formula with hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid, centella asiatica, and lysine can help deeply moisturize the skin. The editor-approved Tower 28 concealer is not only hydrating but great for sensitive skin. “This is the lightest concealer I’ve ever used,” says Glamour’s Calle. “It actually doesn’t even feel like I’m layering on makeup, so it’s great for a no-makeup look and it’s not patchy at all. I’d recommend going a bit lighter than you normally would for a more brightening effect,” she says.

Best Creamy Concealer: Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Creamy Concealer

Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Creamy Concealer

Original video by Glamour reviewer Brittany Loggins

This completely creaseless concealer will become your new favorite if you’re looking for something hydrating that won’t move throughout the day. “I’ve tried every concealer in Tarte’s Shape Tape family, and I will say that the Maracuja Creaseless Creamy Concealer is definitely aptly-named,” says Glamour contributor Brittany Loggins. “While the original shape tape is super full coverage and a little on the dryer side, this one is both full coverage and skincare-forward. The consistency is much creamier, which gives you time to spread and arrange it before it’s dry. I have pretty dark under eyes that lean toward the more hollow side, and I applied one dot closer to the inner corner of my under eye and one to the outside of my eye. This amount was absolutely enough to offer up full coverage. I set it with translucent setting powder, and I found that it actually lasted for 12 hours while still looking great. The moisture levels also kept it from sinking into my fine lines, so I never felt like it was creasing.”

Pros: Offers nourishing ingredients like mango and shea butterCons: Tube is prone to leakingFinish: MatteShades: 34Size: 0.33 oz.Original image by Glamour reviewer Brittany Loggins

Best for Dark Circles: Kosas Revealer Extra Bright Serum-Powered Color Correctors

Kosas Revealer Extra Bright Serum-Powered Color Correctors

Original video by Glamour commerce writer Alanna Martine Kilkeary

Jaikaran is a fan of the the Kosas Revealer Super Creamy + Brightening Concealer with Caffeine and Hyaluronic Acid concealer and actually uses it as foundation on beauty shoots, since it’s so lightweight and blends into the skin seamlessly. But if dark circles plague you, Glamour’s Kilkeary recommends the brand’s extra bright version as a first step in improving your appearance. “This ultra-creamy formula comes in orange and pink undertones to help cancel out the blue and purple tones of dark circles. I love using this one when I’m looking particularly fatigued and need a little pick-me-up. I love pairing it under its counterpart concealer for a natural-looking, brighter finish.”

Original video by Glamour reviewer Jessica Fields

If you’ve ever had issues with the color of your concealer oxidizing over the course of the day, good news: This one has vitamin E that will help with just that. Plus, the creamy formula doubles as highlighter and contour, while the feather-shaped applicator allows for quick, easy blending.

“This Valentino concealer’s formula is packed with hydrating ingredients that add to the creamy texture and make it comfortable to wear. But it also includes caffeine, which instantly made my tired eyes appear awakened and brightened. I tried the shade Deep Neutral 2 and used just a few small dots in the inner and outer corners and was able to achieve a medium coverage that would be perfect for a no-makeup look. The shade matched my skin tone perfectly, which is always a win. However, I would opt to add a smidge of a lighter shade to enhance the brightening effect.”

Best Vegan: Refy Brightening and Blurring Serum ConcealerRefy Brightening and Blurring Serum Concealer

Original video by Glamour commerce editor Malia Griggs

This concealer is a great option if you’re looking for something that marries skincare and makeup. It plumps the skin with hyaluronic acid, and phytosqualane, a plant-derived moisturizing ingredient that hydrates and plumps the skin, making fine lines less apparent.

“Refy’s concealer is a good, basic, not too creamy staple to have in your makeup bag,” says Glamour commerce editor Malia Griggs. “The product bills itself as a brightener, and I did notice a little bit of this especially under my eyes. I liked that it didn’t get all stuck in my nose and under-eye creases, as some concealers do, and that it wasn’t oily or too drying. It managed to cover the darkness in those areas well and lasted for most of the workday..”

Best Stick Concealer: Merit The Minimalist Perfecting Complexion Foundation and Concealer StickMerit The Minimalist Perfecting Complexion Foundation and Concealer Stick

Original video by Glamour commerce editor Malia Griggs

Looking to conceal on the go? We love this lightweight and buildable stick that’s a foundation and concealer hybrid and will help blur lines and blemishes with just a few swipes.

“I’ve had Merit’s complexion stick for a little over a year now—it’s the one I reach for on days when I want some heavy coverage (like when I’m shooting any sort of TikTok for work that involves bright lighting),” says Griggs. “I like its slim body and twist-up design (sometimes concealers with brushes ick me out), and how creamy and full-coverage it is. I can ditch foundation in lieu of it, which is the whole point. That said, it’s pretty intense for everyday. When I wear it, I feel like it’s quite visible on my skin, which isn’t what I prefer when I’m just running around town. It’s also a little oily and I usually need to set it with a powder. The stick isn’t what I choose for day to day, but if I want coverage that lasts for an event, it’s a strong pick.”

Best Luxury Concealer: Armani Beauty Luminous Silk Hydrating & Brightening ConcealerArmani Beauty Luminous Silk Hydrating & Brightening Concealer

Original video by Glamour commerce writer Alanna Martine Kilkeary

Ask any makeup artist the secret to dewy, lit-from-within skin, and Armani Beauty’s Luminous Silk line is bound to come up. Its concealer is great for both highlighting and covering blemishes, while its finish feels light and hydrating for hours. “It looks like skin and gives you that natural finish,” says Henney. It’s very blendable and the shade range is expansive, and worth it.”

Glamour reviewer and content creator Faith Woelner says it’s the best concealer she’s ever used. “I have three different shades that I use religiously. I like to use a darker shade for subtle contour when I don’t want a full face. All it takes is a tiny dot under my eyes and I blend it with my fingers (no brushes required). It’s the smoothest blend ever and helps with less creasing. This is also the only concealer I’ve found that quite literally lasts all day,” she says.

Pros: Buildable without getting cakeyCons: Works best when applied with a sponge or brush, not fingersFinish: NaturalShades: 23Size: 0.4 oz.Original image by Glamour commerce writer Alanna Martine Kilkeary

This affordable concealer is a favorite of celebrity makeup artist Jaleesa Jaikaran because of it’s long-lasting wear, even in extreme weather. Despite its staying power, it feels incredibly lightweight and has an easy-to-blend consistency. “If I had to recommend the most reliable drugstore concealer I’ve ever tried, it’s this one. The formula is super pigmented, easy to blend, and completely melts into the skin,” says Kilkeary.

Best Creaseproof Concealer: Kulfi Main Match Crease-Proof Long-Wear Hydrating ConcealerKulfi Main Match Crease-Proof Long-Wear Hydrating Concealer

The antioxidant-packed concealer was designed with medium to deep skin tones in mind, and the hydrating formula lasts without the need for a setting powder.

“This concealer is a game-changer for Indian skin tones, especially if you’re looking for a natural, brightened look without feeling heavy,” says Glamour senior analyst Loneeja Talukdar. “Extra Elachi has the perfect neutral-to-warm undertone, making it a great match for medium skin without turning ashy or orange. The formula is lightweight, creamy, and hydrating, blending effortlessly while giving medium, buildable coverage—perfect for concealing dark circles and blemishes without creasing. It wears beautifully for 6-8 hours, especially when set with a light powder. If you have dry or normal skin, this will feel like a dream, though oily skin types might need a bit of setting. Overall, it’s a brightening, skin-like concealer that melts into the skin, making it a great everyday essential.”

Best for Matte Finish: LancĂŽme Teint Idole Ultra Wear All Over Full Coverage ConcealerLancĂŽme Teint Idole Ultra Wear All Over Full Coverage Concealer

This is another favorite of Jaikaran, who says it leaves a gorgeous finish. (She’s right.) Its skin care benefits come courtesy of moringa seed oil and rose extract, which explains how it’s able to deliver up to 24 hours of hydration despite the matte finish. The pointed applicator also makes for neat, precise application.

If you want your concealer to last all day, look to this thick, creamy formula that Kilkeary loves. “This concealer is pigmented and rich in consistency. If you’re looking to cover up red and raised pimples, birthmarks, or any dark spots, this is the one to go for. It’s so good, you could probably cover tattoos with it too.

If you just need a touch of coverage, you can’t go wrong with this formula, which has a second-skin texture and dewy finish. It’s infused with squalane and glycerin to keep skin hydrated, and the bouncy texture is easy to blend. “This is the only concealer that hasn’t clung to my dry skin on my under eyes. It is lighter coverage but I prefer that. It is a bit oily sometimes but if you press it into your skin right and use a little bit of powder it’s perfect,” a Glamour reviewer shares.

Pros: Has a pointy applicator (instead of a doe-foot one), allowing for more precise applicationCons: Not very buildableFinish: RadiantShades: 15Size: 0.2 oz.Best Blurring Concealer:Hourglass Vanish Airbrush ConcealerHourglass Vanish Airbrush Concealer

This full-coverage formula pulls off the impossible: It’s waterproof but feels like nothing on skin. Thanks to built-in powders that have a blurring effect, it leaves skin with a luminous (but not shiny) airbrushed finish that all but renders foundation unnecessary.

“While the coverage is great, where this concealer really shines is the finish. The name doesn’t lie: It really makes my skin look filtered. It also has a luminous quality that blurs and brightens, without a speck of glitter—if you’ve ever used the brand’s iconic finishing powder, it has a similar effect. Basically, it’s the closest to IRL Photoshop a girl can get,” says Glamour contributor Bella Cacciatore.

If you were looking to step out of a sauna with perfect skin, this is the product you’d wear. It’s a budge-proof cream that won’t slip off or melt away from water, perspiration, or humidity—plus, it offers medium to full coverage. “Safe to say, I will never go back to any other concealer. This covers my under eyes well, it’s so smooth and easy to blend, and no wrinkles or dry patches are visible, whatsoever. It’s my favorite concealer for mature skin,” says a Glamour reviewer.

Pros: Fragrance-free, making it ideal for sensitive skin typesCons: Can feel dryingFinish: RadiantShades: 22Size: 0.25 oz.Best Waterproof Concealer: It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Full Coverage Anti-Aging Waterproof ConcealerIt Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Waterproof Concealer

It Cosmetics’ number-one concealer formula was developed with input from plastic surgeons to provide instant full coverage and long-term antiaging benefits, thanks to hyaluronic acid and vitamin E. Kilkeary is a huge fan of this one, and restocks it every time she’s at Sephora. “This ultra creamy formula is simply unmatched: it has yellowy-orange undertones to cancel out any purple or blue in the under-eye area and leave behind a brighter, more even-toned and textured finish. Not to mention, it won’t budge for hours, through sweat or tears.”

Whether you’re dealing with hyperpigmentation or dryness, consider this your new best friend. Not only does it contain hyaluronic acid for hydration, but it also features niacinamide and vitamin C for long-term brightening. And, of course, the weightless formula makes quick work of most concerns, blending seamlessly and not transferring once it sets.

“This formula is my favorite everyday concealer. I have very, very deep dark circles, but with a little bit of color corrector and this product, you’d never know. It’s also the perfect shade match—not too orange or too yellow. It actually looks like skin,” says Glamour reviewer Ky Michelle.

“This palette is a staple in my kit,” says Henney. “I use it for everything from men’s grooming to tattoo and body bruise covering. They have a six shades and correctors that suit a variety of undertones,” she says. The yellow and peachy hues are great for covering up dark circles, while the neutral tones can hide acne and blemishes in a snap.

Pros: Multiple correctors and concealers in oneCons: Not easy to carry aroundFinish: NaturalShades: 1Size: 0.21 ozYour concealer questions, answeredHow do you choose the right concealer for your skin tone and type?

According to Kasey Spickard, a NYC-based makeup artist, finding the right concealer for your skin tone is all about knowing your undertones.

If your veins are:

Blue/purple: Look for a concealer with cooler (blue) undertonesGreen: Choose a concealer with warmer (yellow-orange) undertonesIt also depends what you’re using the concealer for—if it’s for coverage on regular blemishes or an uneven skin tone, opt for a shade that exactly matches your skin tone when swatching. “However, for under eye circles, you’re going to want to neutralize your discoloration in which case a peachy toned more orange concealer is going to help neutralize those tines. Then, go back over that concealer with a brightening concealer to make sure your undereyes pop.”

As far as how to choose the right concealer for your skin type, opt for a concealer with ingredients that can address your concerns. “If you have dry skin, you’re going to want to use a creamy, hydrating formula with hyaluronic acid or glycerin,” says Spickard. If you have oily skin, go for a natural-finish or matte concealer that might have kaolin clay or salicylic acid that can help soak up excess oil.

What goes on first, concealer or foundation?

While there’s no hard and fast rule about what comes first, concealer or foundation, Tobi Henney, a celebrity makeup artist recommends applying foundation first as your base layer, followed by concealer focused on problem areas like under the eyes or blended on top of blemishes. Spickard also notes that while it’s a matter of preference, foundation is going to do more work in getting you coverage, and you can use concealer to go in and boost your coverage.

How do you make concealer last all day?

To make concealer last all day, Henney recommends applying concealer with a concealer brush, then pressing it into the skin with a damp beauty blender. Spickard says prepping the skin with a good face moisturizer and primer will ensure your makeup blends onto your skin seamlessly. And be diligent about application: “Don’t pack a ton of concealer on and then try blending it out. It’s going to be too much product and then it’s going to move around throughout the day.” Finish up your look with a good setting powder and setting spray to lock everything in.
