In a news conference Thursday morning, Los Angeles City Fire Chief Kristin M. Crowley described the situation as catastrophic, stating that the number of damaged or destroyed structures is “in the thousands” and calling the Palisades Fire “one of the most destructive natural disasters in the history of Los Angeles.”
While firefighters continue to control the fires, the total scale of the fires’ destruction is still unknown. However, satellite images and before-and-after images are beginning to capture the impact.
