ICONIC MOTO!

Adolf Weil may have never won a world championship, but his grit, style and the fact that he was competitive into his mid-30’s deemed him the “Iron Man” of Motocross. He won 14 German motocross championships, finished third three times in the 500 GPs and was second to Hakan Anderson in the 1973 250 GPs. Adolf touched the heart of America in 1973 when he won the Trans-AMA championship at 34 years old. Adolf always wore an open face helmet, was mounted on a Maico and was instrumental in the AW Maico, which was named after him. Adolf was born in 1938 and passed away unexpectedly in 2011.

ARE YOU READY FOR SUPERCROSS!!!

Kenny, coming off a great off-season prep with the WSX series works on his ‘getting flat’ methodology.

In 1979 Brad Lackey was racing for Kawasaki and was one of the front runners to win the World Championship.  Lackey won more motos than any other competitor in the ’79 GPs, but his Factory Kawasaki had reliability issues Brad went on to finish second in the GP’s behind Andre Malherbe.

It wouldn’t suck to have this in your living room!@!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

WHO WAS TOUGHEST?
Throughout the history of all sporting events there is always one question about the athletes; who was tougher? The back in the day figures who fought for notoriety, fame and maybe a hint of fortune; or the new chapter of an evolved  species who make huge bank and their every move is captured, published and smeared over forms of media that would make a superstar in the 1970’s question their sanity. Here’s the start of the series.

Bob Hannah, Georgia National motocross. He crashed in the first turn, snapped off his clutch perch, then grabbed it so it wouldn’t flop into his front wheel. He went from last to first holding onto the broken clutch lever and cable.

WOLF: BACK IN THE DAY

This was in the back half of 1989 and we got a chance to test the all-new Suzuki DR350. Suzuki flew us to Japan for the test and it turned into a trip that will be forever tattooed in our brain matter. They had us in the big seats (Business class), Bob Hope was on the plane and the editors from all of the enthusiasts magazines were aboard. Dinners were incredible, adult beverages flowed copiously, we were shown around Tokyo, took the bullet train to Hamamatsu where the Suzuki factory is located. The test on the new machine was a quick and dirty deal, the riding area was small and we had time constraints. Still, the bike was fun, the trip with my buddy Joe Colombero, Fran Kuhn and Ken Vreeke was a complete riot.
