FA Cup third-round draw: Results, schedule in full as Eastleigh and Newport play big replay

Arsenal were beaten 2-0 by Liverpool in the standout tie of the FA Cup third-round draw.

As 14-time winners, the Gunners are the most successful team in the knockout competition’s history, while Liverpool won the last of their eight titles when they beat Chelsea on penalties in the 2022 final.

Arsenal missed several chances before a Jakub Kiwior own goal and a late strike from Luiz Diaz sealed Liverpool’s progression to the fourth round.

Holders Manchester City were handed a more generous tie on paper than their two main Premier League title rivals this season. Pep Guardiola’s side hosted Championship strugglers Huddersfield Town and breezed through with a 5-0 victory.

Newcastle won comfortably 3-0 at bitter rivals Sunderland in the Tyne-Wear derby and Chelsea thrashed Championship opposition in the form of Preston North End, while Manchester United beat 2013 winners Wigan Athletic 2-0 in the final tie of the round.
