This year’s Baseball Hall of Fame ballot features some talented newcomers and a few players who are still hoping that the voters will send them to Cooperstown.
Adrian Beltre is widely considered a first-year lock after finishing his career with 3,166 hits, 477 home runs and five Gold Glove awards. Joe Mauer and Chase Utley also landed on the ballot for the first time.
The top holdover is Todd Helton, who received 72.2 percent of the BBWAA vote last year, just shy of the 75 percent needed for induction. Gary Sheffield, who launched 509 home runs in his career, is in his final year on the ballot.

Baseball Hall of Fame ballot 2024 There are 26 candidates on this year’s ballot, including 12 first-timers. Players must receive 75 percent of the vote in order to be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.
Players named on at least 5 percent of the ballots will return to the ballot next year, unless they have reached the maximum 10 years on the writers’ ballot.Â
