Letlabika has been a noticeable absentee from the Swallows starting XI for the better part of the last one and a half seasons.

He featured in just eight games in the 2022/23 campaign and has made just one appearance this season with the Premiership having already reached its’ halfway mark.

Swallows’ stance on the matter was that the Aliwal Noord-born star was injured, but the details, as revealed by SAFPU were harrowing.

In a press conference, SAFPU secretary general Nhlanhla Shabalala highlighted how the player had to fork out of his own coffers to pay for his knee surgery when the club had failed to provide him with the necessary assistance.

“At this point, even when Wandisile Letlabika, on record, which is one of the discussions we had. Letlabika had to go and pay for his knee operation because the team did not assist with it. And we know how that works. When you have an injury, the team pays on your behalf. They assist with the rehabilitation process. At the end, they claim the money from the insurance, which is Delphisure, Moroka Swallows have not done that,” he told journalists.
