Los Angeles Rams pass-game coordinator and quarterbacks coach Zac Robinson is a “prime candidate” to become the Atlanta Falcons’ next offensive coordinator, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Schefter noted that newly-hired head coach Raheem Morris “will want to speak to multiple coaches” about the open position.

Adam Schefter @AdamSchefterRams quarterbacks/pass-game coordinator Zac Robinson will be a prime candidate to become Falcons HC Raheem Morris’ offensive coordinator in Atlanta, per league sources. Morris will want to speak to multiple coaches about his OC job, but Robinson will be a strong candidate.

The news came hours after Schefter reported the Falcons’ hiring of Morris, formerly the Rams’ defensive coordinator, as head coach.

Robinson began working with the Rams in 2019 and was promoted to his current role in 2022.

He has also interviewed for offensive coordinator positions with other teams including the New Orleans Saints and Chicago Bears.

Robinson has additionally received interest from the Pittsburgh Steelers and New England Patriots, Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer reported.

Joining Morris in Atlanta could be enough to sway Robinson toward the role. According to Breer, Morris and Robinson are “close,” and Morris “had [Robinson’s] name on the staff list in his interviews.”

Jonathan Jones of NFL on CBS also identified Robinson as a “strong candidate” to join the Falcons, and NFL Network’s James Palmer described him as the “possible OC” in Atlanta.

This is not the first time Robinson has received interest as a potential offensive coordinator. Last winter he interviewed with the Los Angeles Chargers and the Baltimore Ravens, per Breer.

Robinson was working as the Rams’ assistant receivers coach as the team finished out the 2021 season with a Super Bowl win.

During Robinson’s two seasons as pass-game coordinator, the Rams jumped from 3,506 passing yards in 2022 to 4,300 in 2023 despite injuries suffered by star receiver Cooper Kupp.

That jump led to Pro Bowl honors for three key parts of the Rams’ passing game in quarterback Matthew Stafford, running back Kyren Williams and rookie receiver Puka Nacua.

That kind of season-to-season improvement is what the Falcons are looking for after finishing out 2023 alongside the Chicago Bears as the only two NFL teams with fewer than 3,000 passing yards.

If Robinson is hired by the Falcons, he could be replacing current offensive coordinator Dave Ragone, who has been with the team since January 2021.
