I’m interested in the Gabe Gear, but it was $650 (Canadian) for a version that wouldn’t require additional storage for more than a couple of larger titles. Plus I didn’t have a qualifying Steam account anyway.
I thought about it for a few seconds, but realized that I don’t need one. I typically only play games at home, and if I want to play my PC games portably, I can just use Moonlight or Steamlink to stream them to my phone.
Must admit, I was tempted. Got as far as the reservation page before I realised that I already have a respectable gaming laptop, as well as a hoard of handheld consoles, that I barely have time to use. I just don’t need a Steam Deck – especially if Atlus just puts P4G on Switch already… Also, the positions of the controls, the weight of the device – it’s like I’d be asking for new adventures in RSI
I’m absolutely interested! If I didn’t have more pressing financial needs and near future PC upgrade necessities, I would’ve thought about trying to pre-order one.
It’s the alternative way to play my PC games I’ve been wanting ever since I bought my Switch; especially as I’ve never liked laptops. I always wished Steam would put a Steam Link app on the Switch (impossible, I know, but a guy can dream), but I think I’m willing to shell out the $650 on this alternative; provided the reviews cone back positively once this thing launches.
First I want to congratulate Kelley on her PS5 acquisition. I purchased the same GS bundle in mid-June and have no regrets. The $750 or so that is ran is what it would have cost to buy just the console from a re-seller and I know that I would have purchased Ratchet, Spider-Man and the second controller the bundle came with down the line anyway. Enjoy the new console!
As for QOTW, as one who never wanted to worry about drivers, graphics card upgrades or hard drive replacement, I have largely stayed away from PC gaming. The Steam Deck, however, definitely has me reconsidering. It couples ease of entry with an amazing library of games. The ability to play titles like Trails in the Sky 3rd, Vesteria Saga and Dark Deity has me strongly considering a purchase.
