A parent of a Bechem Presbyterian Senior High School (PRESEC) student has accused a teacher of severely beating her son at the school.

According to reports, the said teacher subjected Ebenezer Yeboah, a final year Visual Arts student, and five other students to severe beatings, for failing to pay “dining fees” on Tuesday, January 30, 2024.

The beating left multiple bruises on Yeboah’s face.

Mrs Lawrinda Yeboah, the mother of the victim told the media that one of the students called to inform her that her son was admitted to the hospital.

She said she was informed the teacher did that when the boy could not pay “dining fees.”

One of the teachers, who pleaded anonymity confirmed the story when reporters visited the school.

However, the headmaster of Bechem Presbyterian Senior High School has yet to address the issue.

Mrs Yeboah is therefore calling on the Ghana Education Service (GES) to investigate the matter.

Meanwhile, her son is currently on admission at the Bechem Government Hospital in the Tano South Municipality of the Ahafo Region receiving treatment for his injuries.
