Jeremy Renner Reveals If He Would Return to MCU Following Recovery From Snowplow Accident
Jeremy Renner is opening up about whether heās down to reprise his role as Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
He spoke to Entertainment Tonight recently, more than a year after his near-fatal snowplow accident on Jan. 1, 2023, about potentially returning to The AvengersĀ franchise.
āIām always game,ā Renner said. āIām gonna be strong enough, thatās for sure. Iāll be ready.ā
The Mayor of Kingstown actor, who broke 30 bones after being run overĀ by a 14,300-pound snowcat at his home in Reno, Nevada, also shared how supportive his MCU costars have been.
āAll those guys come to my bedside and theyāve been with me all along through this recovery, soā¦ if they want me, they could have me,ā he added. āIt would be something.ā
Elsewhere in his interview, Renner gave an update on his health and recovery journey.
ā[Iām doing] probably 90 percent of all the things I needed to be doingā¦ I think another six months will be hopefully running [more]ā¦ I got to set goals for myself. Iāll do whatever I canā¦ whatever it takes to get better, to get stronger,ā The Hurt Locker actor said. āItās a one-way street, this recovery. The rest of my life is about health and wellness. Recovery will be part of the rest of my life, so I look forward to it, man. Thereās always something to do to get better, be stronger, be happier, be healthier, and thatās what I look forward to.ā
He added, āItās hard for me to look back, to be honest with you. Itās hard for me to look forward. I focus on now and this next step in front of me, ācause thereās always another obstacle for me right now.ā
Last month, Renner revealed that he had returned to work on his Paramount+ dramaĀ Mayor of Kingstown, which began filmingĀ its third season. āDay one on set ā¦ nervous today,ā he wrote on Instagram at the time. āHope this works out that I can ACTUALLY pull this off for our production and more importantly the fans.ā
When previously opening up about the devastating accident, Renner said that he wasĀ attempting to stop the PistenBullyĀ from hitting his nephew when he got pulled underneath it.
Then in an April 2023 interview with ABC NewsāĀ Diane Sawyer, the actor shared that he had to have his rib cage rebuilt with metal, along with metal plates in his face to support his eye socket and titanium rods in one of his legs. It was a long road to recovery for him, and he continued to post updates for his fans on social media throughout the year.
