According to former Nigeria international Idah Peterside, the situation has not escalated to a point of violence, but Nwabali and others have been receiving threats.Â
“The biggest problem we have had is that we have gotten some messages where people have sent messages to the goalkeeper threatening him,” Peterside told Channels Television, per Business News Nigeria.
“I hear some people are telling him not to come back to South Africa since you didn’t want us to score.
“We have not heard of any violence, but just threats. They have been threatening him and threatening some people.”
The shot-stopper is expected to return to his South African club Chippa United after the Super Eagles compete against Ivory Coast in the AFCON final on Sunday, with the DStv Premiership resuming on Tuesday, 13 February.Â
