Snl24 | Nengomasha: Now Chiefs Have An Advantage In The PSL

Former Kaizer Chiefs player Tinashe Nengomasha talks to Soccer Laduma about why he believes Amakhosi will have an advantage in the second round of the PSL season.

Nengomasha believes this is because Sundowns and Orlando Pirates had many players at the Africa Cup of Nations, while Chiefs only had one player, Edmilson Dove of Mozambique.

Nengomasha discusses how Chiefs’ rival may suffer from fatigue but that Amakhosi will be fresh going forward.

“Yes, it’s good to have continued game time but it’s different when you are playing for the national team. It really takes its toll on players. Look at Sundowns. They had 10 players with Bafana Bafana and one with Namibia,” Nengomasha told Soccer Laduma.

“Pirates had players with Bafana Bafana, Namibia and Ghana. They could be fatigued when they come back while Chiefs had only one player at Afcon. That’s their advantage. The coach had everyone to work with during the break and they should have figured out how they will overcome their shortcomings from the first round.

“They will still be fresh compared to their counterparts whose players didn’t have time to rest at all during the break,” Nengomasha told the Siya crew.

The former Zimbabwe international added that players from tournaments such as Afcon would often come back with injuries and that it can be the case again after the current event.

“Some of the players will come back with knocks from the tournament while Chiefs players will be injury free and that’s why they have an advantage over the other two top teams in Pirates and Sundowns. I hope they will use that to their advantage and fight to finish as high as they can and qualify for the CAF Champions League for next season. They need to be playing there as a big team,” Nengomasha concluded.
