‘One of hardest places to go’

Josh Adams admits that Wales must be more “clinical” in their next Six Nations clash against Ireland after a narrow defeat to England on Saturday.

Their next challenge is a daunting one, with a match against the world’s second-highest ranked side in Dublin on February 24.

“The way they’ve come together as a team and performed for the last two to three years means it’s a monumental task for us but it’s something we’ve got to look forward to.

“We’ve got to battle again and show the same character we did against England but be more clinical if we’re going to hurt teams.”

Andy Farrell is hoping to create history with this Ireland side in their bid to become the first side to secure a second consecutive Grand Slam.

Ireland are also targeting a third consecutive Triple Crown – a feat no team has managed since Wales won four in a row between 1976 and 1979.

However, this current Wales side is far less advanced in their journey, and Adams is asking for patience from the fans as they attempt to rediscover their past glories.

“As a Welsh side we’ve had success for quite a number of years going back,” he added.

“It’s a young team. But I think they [Welsh public] understand the situation.

“This team is striving to get better every day. They’re working extremely hard. Sometimes things don’t go your way.

“We’re disappointed not to win but I know the Welsh public and fans will always be behind us no matter what. That’s why we battle so hard for them.”
