To put it simply, Artifacts are upgrades that give you a buff or a conditional buff for your dive in Deep Rock Galactic Survivor. What makes Artifacts so interesting is that the most potent ones usually have a downside attached to them. For example, the Squint-EE5 Artifact increases your critical chance by 30% and critical damage by 100%. On the flip side, your character will deal 30% less damage from basic attacks. If all of these sound like jargon to you, then we highly suggest checking out our tips for new players.
How to Get Artifacts in Deep Rock Galactic Survivor?
You can get Artifacts by looting Supply Drops. These drops will be summoned when your Progress bar is full. They can be recognized by the large circle around them and standing in them will activate the Supply Drop after a few seconds. If you fail to pick up an Artifact from a Supply Drop, then that Artifact is lost for the rest of your run. And when you do open a Supply Drop, you will get to choose between 3 different Artifacts. However, unlike normal upgrades, you cannot reroll using Gold and have to choose one from the given options.
How to Unlock New Artifacts in Deep Rock Galactic Survivor?
You can unlock brand new Artifacts by completing Milestones. You can check the Milestones menu on the title screen and then click on the “Artifacts” button to see how to unlock them. The requirement of every Artifact is different and you will need to complete certain tasks to get them. Additionally, in the early game of Deep Rock Galactic Survivor, it is quite common to see multiple copies of the same Artifact as you don’t have access to new ones.

You will have a nice assortment of Artifacts to work towards when playing Deep Rock Galactic Survivor. So, here are our picks for the top 10 best Deep Rock Galactic Survivor Artifact unlocks to focus on.
1. BLT Ration Pack
The BLT Ration Pack is hands-down the best Artifact in the game at the time of writing. It grants the player +70 Max HP and +2 Life Regen without any side effects. To unlock this Artifact, you will need to complete the “Reach 300 Max HP” Milestone. The fastest way to reach this Milestone is by using either the Classic Scout or the Juggernaut Gunner Class Mod and then upgrading your Max HP.
The Popup Tripod Artifact description reads – “increase your fire rate and reload speed when standing still. +2% Fire Rate, +2% Reload Speed for 2 seconds. Stacks up to 10 times.” The buff provided by this Artifact can do wonders in between waves when you have a moment to breath. If you want to get this, complete the “Kill 15,000 Aliens while standing still” Artifacts Milestone.
3. Gold-tipped Bullets
The Gold-tipped Bullets Artifact increases the player’s damage by 1% for every 5 Gold they have. Since mining resources is a integral part of the game, this buff should scale well with the duration of your dive. To unlock this you will need to complete the “Collect 2,000 Gold” Artifacts Milestone. The Driller class is the best pick for the job and you should focus on getting as much Gold as possible in each dive.
4. Nitragenic Powder
The Nitragenic Powder Artifact increases your critical chance by 0.5% for every Nitra you have. You will need to complete the “Collect 2,000 Nitra” Artifacts Milestone to unlock this. And just like the Gold-tipped Bullets, the Driller class is your best bet for getting this Artifact.
5. BRN Shield Belt
This Artifact makes you explode in a ring of fire, dealing damage and burning nearby enemies when you get hit. It has a 30 second cooldown and requires you to complete the “Deal 250,000 Fire Damage” Artifacts Milestone. To unlock this Artifact, you can use the Driller class as they specialize in Fire damage.
6. FRZ Shield Belt
Similar to the BRN Shield Belt, the FRZ Shield Belt knocks back and slows nearby enemies when you take damage. It also has a 30 seconds cooldown and requires you to complete the “Deal 250,000 Cryo Damage” Artifacts Milestone. You can get this Artifact early on using the Scout class as they come equiped with Cryo weapons.
7. Squint-EE5
The Squint-EE5 Artifact increases your critical chance by 30% and critical damage by 100% but comes at the cost of reducing your damage by 30%. It is very important to understand the implications of this Artifact as you progress deeper into the game. You will need to complete the “Reach 75% Critical Chance” Artifacts Milestone to unlock this which you can do by upgrading this stat every chance you get.
8. Reflex Calibrator
This Artifact improves your dodge chance when taking damage. And to get it, all you have to do is complete the “Take 2,000 damage during a dive” Artifacts Milestone, which shouldn’t be too difficult to do.
9. Pickled Nitra
The Pickled Nitra Artifact increases your damage by 2% and decreases your move speed by 0.5% for every Nitra you have. Although the drawback of it can seem severe, however, if you do the math, then it isn’t so bad. For instance, if you have 10 Nitra on you, then you will dish out an extra 20% more damage with a penalty of only 5% movement speed debuff.
10. Ammo Rig
The reason why we put the Ammo Rig Artifact in the last position is because while it does buff your fire rate by 50%, it also decreases your movement speed by 15%. And in a game like Deep Rock Galactic Survivor, being able to stay agile and nimble is key to survival. But if you feel like you will benefit from using this Artifact, then you will need to complete the “Reach 75% Reload Speed” Artifacts Milestone by upgrading your Reload Speed stat. Keep in mind that this does not apply for improving the Reload Speed of a particular weapon but is rather dependent on the stat of your character.
Our Thoughts on Deep Rock Galactic Survivor Artifacts
Apart from all of the aforementioned Artifacts, there are quite a few notable ones that you can get in the game by default. For instance, the Red Sugar Cube Artifact increases your Max HP by 2 when collecting Red Sugar, the Vita-Miner Pills improves the healing granted when you level up, and the Clipboard of Grudges allows you to gain XP when you take damage. So, go out there, explore, and experiment with all of the different Artifacts to see which ones suit your play style the best!
