Kaizer Chiefs have recently announced the renewal of contracts of key players but question marks remain over one defender whether he is going to remain at the club or not next season.
Njabulo Ngcobo’s contract expires at the end of this campaign and his future hangs in the balance right now.

Siya sources have indicated that the club may not have engaged the former PSL Defender of the Season in any talks though only five months remain on his contract.
The sources added that this may be because the club won’t renew his contract at the end of the season.
“It’s not clear if he is staying or not. But to be honest if he was staying then talks would have started by this time. Seriously his future right now hangs in the balance. It’s very unclear. But as we know he had been living on borrowed time for some time now because it seems he is not part of the team’s plans going forward and hence the delay in negotiating a new deal with him. It’s clear it won’t happen,” the source observed.
A second Siya source stated that the technical team has made recommendations to management on which players they want to stay and hence certain contract renewals have gone ahead.

“Those whose contracts were renewed are the ones the technical team and management agreed that they still need them at the club mainly those whose contracts are expiring in June this year. So, Njabulo (Ngcobo) was not one of them which means he is not considered for renewal and this could mean he will part ways with the club at the end of the season,” the source added.
The 29-year-old had joined Chiefs from Swallows FC but hasn’t really lived up to expectations since joining Amakhosi in 2021. So far this season he has only played a few league games for Chiefs.
Soccer Laduma contacted Chiefs for comment but no response was received before this story was published.
