Awards season is in full swing, and whether you’re brushing up on famous Oscar nominees or planning your viewing parties, there’s nothing more fun than engaging your friends in a movie trivia battle.

These days, it’s easier than ever to engage in a little (movie) trivial pursuit, with a number of cinema-inspired board games and trivia sets online. All of these games can be played with as little as two people, though they work as party games for large groups as well. And all of them offer a range of trivia categories, from famous film franchises, to memorable characters and quotes, and even movie theme songs and soundtracks.

Pick up one of these sets to show off your film knowledge, or to learn some fun facts about Hollywood. Like a good blockbuster, these movie trivia games are sure to keep you entertained and on the edge of your seat as you compete for the win.

Cinema Quiz Vol 1 From favorite franchises to Oscar-winning hits, this game features multiple ways to play — and multiple ways to earn points.

Start by selecting the all-or-nothing “Cash” option, ask for “Multiple Choice,” or press your luck with “50/50.” You can then choose to answer one question at a time, go for a timed round or even turn this movie quiz into a drinking game.

Outset Media Movies Trivia Game This all-ages set contains more than 1200 questions — the most of any game on our list — spanning every film genre, from comedy and drama, to action, adventure, sci-fi, horror and even movie musicals. Every card contains four questions from four categories — the first person to answer at least two of the questions correctly claims the card. The person with the most cards at the end of the game, wins!

The Blockbuster Game Inspired by the legendary (and sadly defunct) Blockbuster Video store, this game includes a quick-react “buzzer battle” (with players shouting out as many movies as they can before time runs out) as well as a round of charades, with players acting out famous films. Housed in a retro-style VHS case, this set includes 260 cards, an electronic timer, one game board, and a mini Blockbuster sign.

This is one of the best-reviewed movie trivia games online, with more than 4500 verified reviews. While the Blockbuster game is designed for ages 12 and up, one review says it’s great for people “with a bigger movie knowledge base.” Another reviewer says the game is “very easy to learn and pick up.”

Back to The 80s and 90s Movie and TV Trivia Another retro option: this “Rewind” trivia set, which features 225 trivia cards inspired by classic TV shows and movies from the 1980s and 90s. Categories include general trivia, movie props, characters, film soundtracks, and “finish the quote.” Everything is housed in a colorful, VHS-inspired storage box.

Go! Games Movies & Entertainment Trivia Game One of the most popular movie trivia sets on Amazon, this box contains 900 questions spread out on more than 200 cards. There are four questions per card, spanning everything from famous quotes to actors to film titles. Reviewers say they love the “wide variety of questions,” with one reviewer (a self-professed “movie buff”) adding that it was a “nice surprise to be challenged by a lot of the questions in this game.”

Ridley’s Movie Buff Trivia Card Game This box of movie trivia cards is a perfect coffee table companion or conversation starter. Measuring just 3.5 x 5 inches, the box tucks easily on a shelf and is easy to bring with you to a party.

This set includes 140 question cards, spanning classic films to modern blockbusters. We love the design of the box too, which makes this movie trivia set a great gift idea or stocking stuffer.
