Legia Warsaw facing more UEFA disciplinary action after ultras find loophole in stadium ban

Legia Warsaw could be in even more trouble with UEFA after fans unveiled an offensive banner during their Europa Conference League tie with Molde.

The Polish side have faced a number of sanctions this season for their supporters actions against Aston Villa and AZ Alkmaar.

In October, ahead of a group game with AZ, Legia fans attacked police in the Netherlands and knocked one officer unconscious, according to the force.

UEFA imposed sanctions on the club as a result of the incident, handing out a financial penalty and closing the ‘Zyleta’ home stand for their match against Molde.

Only children up to the age of 14 were allowed in the home end, and at the start of the match a banner was unveiled which read ‘This time you won, UEFA’.

However, in another part of the stadium ultras then rolled out another giant banner which read: “Surprise motherf***ers,” as they had gathered in a separate part of the Stadion Wojska Polskiego w Warszawie.

On the pitch, Legia were thrashed, with Molde winning 3-0 and 6-2 on aggregate.

After the earlier incidents before the AZ match on October 5, there was further trouble following the game.

Legia players Radovan Pankov and Josue were arrested by Dutch police following an exchange when their team bus was blocked from exiting the stadium.

Later, on December 1, there was more trouble with the police when they travelled to Birmingham to face Aston Villa.

Four police officers were injured and one was taken to hospital, while 30 arrests were made.

UEFA later banned Legia fans from their next five away matches in Europe.
