Cristiano Ronaldo spotted doing Diego Simeone ‘balls’ celebration after receiving Lionel Messi chants

Cristiano Ronaldo hit back at fans chanting Lionel Messi at him by pulling out Diego Simeone’s crude celebration on Sunday.

With Al Nassr locked in a title race in the Saudi Pro League, Ronaldo’s side claimed a last-gasp victory as Talisca scored in the 86th minute.

It saw them claim all three points against Al Shabab, who had equalised twice before through former Atletico Madrid star Yannick Carrasco and Carlos.

Throughout the match, Ronaldo had been jeered by the home fans at the Al Shabab FC Stadium, including chants of ‘Lionel Messi’, his old rival.

Reports in Saudi Arabia claim the country’s football federation has opened an investigation, but Al Nassr has yet to comment.

So as Talisca ran off to celebrate his late goal, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner had his own method – by pelvic thrusting at the crowd.

It was remarkably similar to Atletico boss Simeone’s celebration when the Madrid side went 2-0 up against Juventus in the Champions League in 2019 in the first leg, which became as the ‘cojones’ celebration, a Spanish colloquial term for ‘balls’.

Ronaldo, who was playing for Juve at the time, struck back at the Argentine manager though just weeks later when they met in the second leg.

With Simeone’s celebrations on his mind, Ronaldo scored an incredible hat-trick to overturn a first-leg deficit and win the tie 3-2.

The Portugal international mimicked Simeone by turning to the crowd and performing the same celebration.

Whether Ronaldo will face any sanctions in the Saudi Pro League remains to be seen.

The former Manchester United star was among the scorers on Sunday after netting the opener from the penalty spot.

It has seen him pull further ahead of Aleksandar Mitrovic (19) in the goalscoring charts with 22 goals in 20 matches.

He also has the most assists in the Saudi Pro League, registering nine while Riyad Mahrez, Allan Saint-Maximin, Mourad Batna and Alvaro Medran all have eight.

Ronaldo has been greeted with Messi chants throughout the year across Saudi Arabia with fans trying to get under his skin.

And it is not the first time that the forward has reacted, shushing fans against Al Ettifaq and throwing a strop against Al Hilal.
