Selma Blair Parts Ways With Rep Team Including CAA And Narrative PR
EXCLUSIVE: Selma Blair has parted ways with her representation team, including CAA and Narrative PR. The Cruel Intentions star continues to be managed by Ben Gaynor.
The exits, which happened in recent days, come after Blair came under fire for making what were construed as Islamophobic comments earlier this month. She quickly deleted and then apologized for comments she made on an Instagram user’s post about Israel’s military response to the Hamas attack on the Jewish state October 7. The post also criticized the stance of Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO) and Rep. Rashida Talib (D-MI), the latter of whom is Muslim, over the ongoing war.
Blair wrote: “Thank you so much. Deport all these terrorist supporting goons. Islam has destroyed Muslim countries, and then they come here and destroyed minds. They know they are liars. Twisted justifications. May they meet their fate.”
In her apology, she wrote, “This is a time of great pain and anguish for many around the world, but it is also a time to learn and better understand how words matter,” adding, “I apologize to those in the Muslim community who I offended with my words. I apologize to my friends. And I apologize to anyone I hurt. And I will do better.”
Blair was diagnosed with MS in 2018 and has been a crusader for those suffering from the disease, which affects the central nervous system. In October, she joined President Joe Biden at a ceremony to honor the 33rd anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act and the 50th anniversary of the Rehabilitation Act.
In 2021, she was the subject of the feature documentary Introducing, Selma Blair, which followed the actress as she reckons with the next chapter of her life after her MS diagnosis. In May 2022, she published her autobiography, Mean Baby: A Memoir of Growing Up.
Soon after, the Hellboy star appeared in the Season 31 cast of Dancing With the Stars, taking part in five performances before stepping away to protect her health.
Blair had been a CAA client since May 2021.
