Fans have the opportunity to play WWE 2K24 for the first time Tuesday as part of an early release, available with the Deluxe and 40 Years of WrestleMania Editions (Standard Edition releases Friday, March 8) and when they do, they will find one of the most expansive rosters in WWE Games history.
A mix of modern-day greats and all-time icons, the lineup of competitors will allow fans to create dream matches or relive unforgettable showdowns, against friends, family members, or their fellow members of the WWE Universe, online and off.
Roster Review
This year’s offering from WWE and 2K continues the history of mammoth rosters, with over 200 Superstars to choose from. That includes the base roster, DLC, and unlockable competitors.
As is always the case, the top stars of today’s WWE are well represented, with champions like Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Rhea Ripley, Iyo Sky, and The Judgment Day leading the way.
The Tribal Chief and reigning Undisputed WWE Universal Champion is the highest-rated modern star in the game at 97 but is closely followed by Ripley, who rates at 96.
First-time additions to the game include the unforgiving “Big” Bronson Reed, Maxxine Dupri, Isla Dawn, and the insufferable Chelsea Green.
Beyond the stars of today are the WWE legends and alumni, with the usual suspects including The Undertaker, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, Bret Hart, The Rock, Shawn Michaels, Triple H, and Hulk Hogan.
Where that particular area of the roster excels is the depth beyond those Superstars.
This year’s game touts beloved characters such as Doink the Clown, The Boogeyman, and George “The Animal” Steele, as well as Hall of Famers like Big Boss Man, Rob Van Dam, Molly Holly, and Beth Phoenix.
Fans who preordered the game can download three different versions of Cody Rhodes (Undashing, Stardust, and the Mattel “bruised” version), as well as his father, “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes, and former WWE champion “Superstar” Billy Graham.

As if the depth was not already enough, the announced DLC elevates the quality of the roster tenfold, with the additions of CM Punk, Jade Cargill, Kairi Sane, Diamond Dallas Page, The Dudley Boyz, Terry Funk, and The Sandman, among numerous others.
WWE and 2K have consistently delivered expansive rosters with a plethora of different Superstars, managers, and other characters to play with over the years and this is no different. It is consistently the greatest attribute of any edition of the game and the selling point for many and WWE 2K24 absolutely delivers.
Online Options
There is nothing better than taking any one of those unforgettable legends or modern-day greats and playing online with friends or strangers from across the globe.
That can happen in a variety of different match types, including the reintroduced Casket and Ambulance matches.
Play as The Undertaker and bury your opponents by incapacitating them enough to shove them into a casket and slamming the lid shut.
Or, if you prefer, select a punishing big man like the aforementioned Reed and brutalize the opposition enough to put them in the back of an ambulance and drive them out of the arena.
Compete in multiplayer matches for bragging rights or tell the latest story in your Universe mode by battling players from around the world.
