With the Oscars Just Hours Away, Team ‘Oppenheimer’ Pauses for One More Celebration

With all signs pointing toward a big night at the Oscars for Oppenheimer, the film’s stars and director continue to draw impressive crowds wherever they go.

At the Vanity Fair, Saint Laurent, and NBCUniversal Oppenheimer film toast on Friday, cast members and crew mingled with an exceptional list of A-listers gathered high in the Hollywood Hills for a VIP celebration co-hosted by Vanity Fair editor in chief Radhika Jones, Saint Laurent’s Anthony Vaccarello and Universal’s Dame Donna Langley.

Held at the John Lautner-designed home of producer Mitch Glazer and actress Kelly Lynch, the evening began with an intimate dinner attended by Robert Downey Jr., Susan Downey, Gwyneth Paltrow, Sharon Stone, Olivia Wilde, Zoe Kravitz, Channing Tatum, Jason Blum, Donald Glover, Hailey Bieber, Salma Hayek Pinault, François-Henri Pinault, Jon Hamm, Anna Osceola, and more.

Immediately following the dinner was a cocktail party with the dress code of “Cocktail/Cool,” which resulted in a crowd clad in very chic, mostly all-black ensembles.

Outside on the property’s expansive lawn we spotted nominees Cillian Murphy, Christopher Nolan and Emma Thomas chatting together and with well wishers, and Alex Wolf and Josh Hartnett, who hadn’t seen each other since filming and were busy catching up. Wolf said he felt “really lucky” to be on the extremely successful ride with the film with which Hartnett heartily agreed. Wolf also confirmed that the famous “OppenHomies” group chat is still alive and well (phew).

In addition to the quality company and passing trays of burgers and fries packaged in chic Saint Laurent-branded black and white cardboard containers, guests were dazzled by the event’s location, which had near-panoramic views of the city of Los Angeles below it.

“It likes to put on a show,” Lynch said of their house. The couple has hosted glamorous Oscar week events with Saint Laurent for four consecutive years and hope the partnership continues. “We actually have fun here,” Glazer said. Additional atmospheric excellence was provided by the band Hermanos Gutiérrez.

Inside the mid-century “masterpiece,” the Pinaults were overheard expressing their joint excitement for Kravitz’s directorial debut Blink Twice to Kravitz and fiancé Tatum, the film’s star. On another side of the room, Finneas greeted a group of friends and Keegan-Michael Key and wife Elle passed through the venue. The couple said they have close friends who worked on Oppenheimer and were happy to come out and show their support. We also passed by Hamm and Osceola, neighbors of Glazer and Lynch who joked that they happily RSVP’d to the event because of “proximity.”

When the event started winding down hours later, it seemed as though the crowd collectively realized there was another big weekend event on the horizon. The starry crowd began to make their way home for some pre-Oscars beauty sleep.
