FREE STATE Premier Mxolisi Dukwana says he might lose the battle in his war against corruption in the province.
Dukwana shocked the province when he announced that the provincial government appointed highly qualified forensic professionals to probe corruption that involves tender gurus who wrongfully benefitted billions of rands through corruption.
In an interview with Daily Sun, Dukwana said that tender gurus and construction mafias have destroyed all the documents used to acquire government money through corruption.
“We have realised during investigations that most construction companies have destroyed documents to avoid possible prosecution. We’ve decided to appoint a team of highly qualified forensic professionals to probe corruption, do lifestyle audits and deepest vetting of our government employees. We’re not fighting people, but we declare war against those who used government for wrongful enrichment,” he said.

Dukwana’s statements result from the high level of corruption where construction companies were allegedly paid without doing any job.
The provincial government has lost billions of rands in a number of unfinished projects.
Dukwane referred to the controversial asbestos project and the long overdue hostel project in Welkom.
“The hostel’s initial budget was R180 million with no progress. The hostel began construction seven years ago with different construction companies. They accumulated from R180 to R400 million, but still the projects remain unfinished. Many RDP houses were left unfinished. We will leave no stone unturned to combat corruption in the province. We’re forced to inject another bulk of money for the removal of asbestos roofs across the province after heartless people milked R255 million,” said Dukwana Â
