THE family of slain alleged drug dealer, Robert Varrie, is struggling to come to terms with his death.
Varrie (49), a father of eight, was assaulted allegedly during an interrogation by Moja Love’s Sizok’thola crew members on 19 July 2022 at Phadima Section in Katlehong, Ekurhuleni.
Former Sizok’thola presenter Xolani Khumalo was arrested and is facing murder, robbery and property damage charges.
On Thursday, 21 March, the family and their private investigator, known as ABE, briefed the media at Golden Oakes Complex in Boksburg, Ekurhuleni.
Robert’s sister said she was haunted by her late brother.
“I’ve been dreaming about him. In the dream, he appears to be fighting and his hands are handcuffed. My health is deteriorating because I miss my brother. I loved him so much,” she said.
The emotional sister said she has been attending counselling sessions since 2023.

“I’m on medication. I get anxiety when I think of him and the way he was allegedly killed,” she said.
The investigator said the family wanted justice for their son. He said Varrie’s mum was also not copying after losing her son.
“The mother had five children, four girls and one boy, and her only son was taken away after he was allegedly killed by the Sizok’thola crew members,” said ABE.
He said the family wants more people to be arrested.
“We believe more people should be arrested because Xolani Khumalo was not alone when the incident happened. Concern from the family is that Xolani is the only person arrested so far. There’s no way the case will proceed with Xolani as the only person in the accused’s box,” he said.
ABE said the family wanted those who dropped Varrie’s body off at the Thelle Mogoerane Regional Hospital in Vosloorus to be identified.
Xolani appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrates Court on Thursday, 22 February.
The case was postponed to Thursday, 11 April, after the court ordered the TV show to bring video footage taken when the alleged drug dealer was killed.
“The main concern is that the case must be investigated properly and fully.
“For now, we’ll see what happened on 11 April, and at the end of the day it’s for magistrates to decide what to do or whether to postpone the case or give cops more time to investigate,” he said.
