Yankees’ Oscar Gonzalez fractured orbital in scary injury

A scary scene took place Monday night in Mexico when New York Yankees outfielder Oscar Gonzalez suffered a right orbital fracture in the exhibition game against the Diablos Rojos.

During the second inning of the international exhibition game, Gonzalez fouled off an inside pitch, which ricocheted upwards directly into his eye. He remained on the ground for several minutes as he was attended to by the training staff.

Yankees announce that Oscar Gonzalez has a right orbital fracture. He will remain in the hospital tonight for observation and rest.

In 20 games and 46 at-bats, Gonzalez slashed .326/.367/.522 with one home run, four doubles and seven RBI. He seemed to be in the mix for the final bench spot, but he was reassigned to the minor leagues Monday.
