Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.44 Sees A Series Legend Return
It’s that time of the month again, with Gran Turismo 7 set for another update this week. A trio of new cars is coming to the game with version 1.44, and a legend of the series will make a much-anticipated return.
That will be the Toyota GT-One. Known by its chassis code TS020, the GT-One competed at Le Mans in 1998 and 1999, finishing the latter second overall and first in the LMGTP class. It’s the ‘99 car that will make an appearance in the game, though we’ll give it five minutes before someone has made the ‘98 livery.
The GT-One had been a staple of the Gran Turismo series, debuting in Gran Turismo 2 and appearing in every title before its absence from 2017’s Sport. It’ll bolster GT7s tantalising list of ‘90s Le Mans racers, including the Mazda 787B, McLaren F1 GTR and Mercedes CLK-LM.
Joining the GT-One is the 2016 Audi R8 V10 Plus, complete with that signature 5.2-litre naturally-aspirated V10. It’s more than likely pure coincidence, but it’s interesting to note it joins the game just as the real Audi R8 heads out of production.
Rounding out the trio of additions is GT7’s first performance-focused SUV, the Lamborghini Urus. This base version of the car as opposed to the 657bhp Performante, but we’d bet on some bodywork modifications being possible to make the already garish SUV look similar to the range-topper.
Other inclusions in update 1.44 are pretty limited. Another extra menu – which will reward you for collecting a trio of Jaguars – is being added along with three new events and an additional Scapes location. There’s no new track, sadly, meaning a four-month wait will become at least a fifth.
Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.44 will be released on Thursday, 28 March and will be available from 5 am UK time. We’ll have to wait for the full patch notes for any notable gameplay changes, along with a list of the now-customary new engine swaps each update.
