Major League Baseball’s 2024 Opening Day has nearly arrived, and New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone can’t wait to watch Juan Soto establish himself among the franchise greats.

Soto got out to a hot start during spring training, but he has cooled off of late, causing some concern among the fanbase with Opening Day looming.

Boone isn’t worried about Soto establishing himself and getting off to a strong start, though, telling reporters:

“He didn’t get a ton of results here the last couple of weeks, which I often think with a hitter of his caliber isn’t such a bad thing from a timing standpoint. Every hitter goes through little lulls at different points in the season, so hoping he got that out of the way here, but I think he’s ready to roll. He’s in a great mental state and I can’t wait to watch him go out and tear up the Bronx.”The Yankees acquired Soto in a trade with the San Diego Padres, and he’s expected to anchor the lineup alongside 2022 American League MVP Aaron Judge and two-time Silver Slugger Giancarlo Stanton.

Soto finished spring training hitting .304/.373/.630 with four home runs and 10 RBI in 16 games.

Boone and the Yankees will have to wait a little while before Soto can “tear up the Bronx.”

The Pinstripes open the 2024 campaign on Thursday against the Houston Astros at Minute Maid Park and won’t return to Yankee Stadium until April 5 for their home opener against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Regardless, the Yankees will hope Soto can get rolling early on the road and carry the momentum into the team’s home opener next month.
