Justin Thomas Misses Masters Cut After Crashing and Burning on Last Four Holes

In this story:Justin Thomas strolled up to the 15th tee box Friday at Augusta National in good position.

Through 32 holes of the 2024 Masters Tournament, Thomas was even par. He just had to get past the final four holes with the cutline hovering around five over par.

But then disaster struck.

Thomas found the water on his third shot of the 15th hole and settled for a double-bogey 7. On the par-3 16th hole, Thomas landed his tee shot in the bunker and three-putted for another double-bogey 5.

The bad luck continued on the par-4 17th hole. Thomas missed a six-foot putt for par and tapped in for bogey. And on the par-4 18th hole, Thomas sent his tee shot into the trees, chipped onto the fairway and then two-putted from nine feet to finish his round with yet another double-bogey.

When all was said and done, Thomas finished seven over par on the final four holes, and seven over par through two complete rounds. Thomas missed the cut—which stood at six over par—by one stroke.

Thomas wasn’t the only notable golfer to miss the cut. Wyndham Clark, Viktor Hovland, Dustin Johnson and Jordan Spieth also were among the 29 golfers to be sent home from August after two rounds.
