IRONMAN World Champion Sam Laidlow drops out of the Singapore T100
Sam Laidlow was an early casualty in the hot and humid conditions at the Singapore T100, as the Frenchman withdrew inside the first half of the 80km bike leg.
With a return of ninth in Miami last month and now a DNF in South East Asia, the 25-year-old has struggled to adapt to the demands of the 100km distance so far this season.
After making his way up to the front of the race early on, Laidlow quickly began to falter, before stepping off the course and calling it a day.

“It’s a tough pill to swallow”
Interviewed on the broadcast after pulling out, Laidlow said he struggled to keep down his nutrition during the race, with stomach problems again causing havoc for the French star.
“I won’t lie it is a tough pill to swallow, but talking about swallowing I just couldn’t take anything down and was chucking up the whole bike.
“My stomach was not in a good place and it didn’t work out after an hour of racing, I couldn’t get the heart rate up and it is how it is I guess, but it’s very frustrating.
“I was confident going into the race, I felt better than Miami and I was fit and healthy, but you just never know.”
Next up, Laidlow will look to validate his slot in Kona at IRONMAN Vitoria-Gasteiz, which takes place in Spain on July 14.
