Miami Dolphins star receiver Tyreek Hill didn’t have his best performance during the team’s loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Wild Card Round this past season, and he didn’t shy away from criticism from his coach.
Hill revealed during an appearance on the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast that Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel had some choice words for him during Miami’s 26-7 loss, and he didn’t mind it at all. He said a play where he was jammed off the line of scrimmage by Chiefs cornerback L’Jarius Sneed caused McDaniel to go off.
“He called me out, he’s like, ‘Reek, you’re supposed to be the best player in the league, and you got this guy putting hands all over you like that. We pay you all this money for what?'” Hill said around the 20:00 mark. “And for me, I love s–t like that, because I’m gonna take s–t like that to heart and I’m gonna get better from it. That’d never happen again to me in my life. If a m—-rf—-r can’t hold me accountable, I feel like I’m not gonna be able to get better.”
Hill caught five passes for 62 yards and Miami’s lone touchdown. The Dolphins struggled to find momentum while playing in near-frigid temperatures in Kansas City. He even took to social media after the game to admit that Sneed got the better of him on that particular play.

The 30-year-old added that he wants to be a good example for his teammates, so he’s glad he has a coach who’s willing to call him out.
“If he’s not saying nothing, the other guys in the locker room are gonna look at it as, ‘Oh, if ‘Reek can do it, I can do it.’ And that’s not getting the team better,” he said. “I need everybody to get better.”
