KAIZER Chiefs sporting director, Kaizer Motaung Jnr, has called on supporters to continue backing the team despite its recent poor performance.
He conveyed this message to numerous Amakhosi faithfuls who attended the funeral of the late defender Luke Fleurs on 20 April in Mitchells Plain, Cape Town.
Kaizer Jnr, along with Amakhosi management and players, including captain Itumeleng Khune, were present at the funeral. Following the service, they took the opportunity to engage with supporters, expressing gratitude for their unwavering support.
The sporting director acknowledged the team’s recent struggles but encouraged fans to “keep supporting” the team. He extended an apology for the disappointing results and assured fans of the team’s commitment to improving their performance.
âWe will be here in Cape Town at the end of May to face Cape Town Spurs. Please come out in your numbers,â he said.Â

The event also allowed supporters to take photos with the players and management. Manelisi Sisusa, the Amakhosi supporterâs chairman in the Western Cape, reassured the team of the fans’ support.
âWe’re fully behind the team despite the not-so-good results. We know that they will improve,â Manelisi said.Â
Despite the optimism, Chiefs suffered another loss against Richards Bay on Sunday, 21 April. However, supporters like Sinelizwi Nombembe remain hopeful.
âWe hope to return to our winning ways in the match against Richards Bay,â Nombembe said, reflecting the resilient spirit of the Amakhosi supporters.
