Jayden Daniels Compared to Steelers’ Russell Wilson By Cam Newton Before NFL Draft

“I would say, his game reminds me of Russell Wilson,” Newton said on his 4th&1 show on Wednesday (1:08:21 mark). “… Russell Wilson is so deceptive with his ability to make plays. You know he has it, he can stand in the pocket and compete with the best of them. And also scramble out of the pocket and run with the best of them. I see Jayden Daniels as that same type of person.”
While Wilson, who is now on the Pittsburgh Steelers, didn’t play well for much of his time on the Denver Broncos the past two seasons, he was one of the best quarterbacks in the league during his time on the Seattle Seahawks.
Wilson was a Super Bowl champion and nine-time Pro Bowler in 10 seasons with Seattle.
Whichever team selects Daniels in Thursday’s NFL draft would surely be thrilled with an outcome like that, especially if it is the Washington Commanders at No. 2 or the New England Patriots at No. 3 as they search for their next franchise quarterback.
Daniels showed off that dual-threat ability when he won the Heisman Trophy in his final season at LSU by completing 72.2 percent of his passes for 3,812 yards, 40 touchdowns and four interceptions while adding 1,134 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground as a runner.
B/R’s NFL Scouting Department ranked him as the No. 3 overall quarterback behind Drake Maye and Caleb Williams in its latest big board, but a Wilson comparison may cause some NFL teams to move him up in their own rankings.
