Events of the Week: ‘Poolman,’ ‘A Man in Full’ and More

Here’s a look at this week’s biggest premieres, parties and openings in Los Angeles and New York, including events for Poolman, A Man in Full and Hacks.

TCM Classic Film Festival

After kicking off with a Pulp Fiction reunion on April 18, the TCM Classic Film Festival continued through the weekend, as Jodie Foster had her handprints and footprints enshrined in concrete at the TCL Chinese Theatre and then appeared at a screening of her film The Silence of the Lambs; Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins reunited for a screening of their film The Shawshank Redemption; and Mel Brooks introduced a closing night presentation of his film Spaceballs.

A Man in Full special screening

Stars of the new Netflix series, including Jeff Daniels, Diane Lane, Aml Ameen, Lucy Liu, Sarah Jones, Jon Michael Hill, Chanté Adams and Evan Roe, reunited with showrunner David E. Kelley and director/EP Regina King at a Los Angeles special screening on Wednesday.

Hacks season three celebration

On Wednesday, Max celebrated the third season of Hacks with a party at the Chateau Marmont, with showrunners Lucia Aniello, Jen Statsky and Paul W. Downs, as well as series cast Jean Smart, Hannah Einbinder, Carl Clemons-Hopkins, Kaitlin Olson, Mark Indelicato, Jane Adams, Christopher McDonald and Kathryn Newton. The event featured a performance by the Aqualillies, DJ stylings from Daisy O’Dell, and custom artwork of guests by fashion illustrator Joana Avillez.

Time100 Gala

Time convened the 18th annual Time100 Gala, celebrating its list of the world’s most influential people, in NYC on Thursday. Taraji P. Henson was the host of the evening, which featured musical performances by Dua Lipa and Fantasia Barrino and appearances by members of this year’s list, including Patrick Mahomes, Maya Rudolph, 21 Savage, Colman Domingo, Kylie Minogue and Kelley Robinson, as well as a special Time100 Impact Award presented to Michael J. Fox.

Jeeter’s High Dining Experience

On Saturday, Dwyane Wade welcomed Bob Marley’s family for a special tribute to the late music icon, as he hosted a High Dining event with his Jeeter business partners at a private estate in West Hollywood. Guests including Gabrielle Union, Zac Levi, Jay Ellis, Jeff Ross, Seth Green, Trevor Wallace, Karrueche, Nazanin Mandi and Freddie Prinze Jr. celebrated 4/20 with a musical set by Skip Marley.

No Kid Hungry Dinner

On Wednesday, No Kid Hungry held its Los Angeles No Kid Hungry Dinner to commemorate its 40th anniversary and to honor individuals — including chef Mary Sue Milliken, auctioneer Billy Harris and corporate partner Kia — who have made an impact in eradicating hunger and poverty. The dinner was held at a private residence in Beverly Hills where chef and TV host Lorena Garcia led the evening’s events as emcee, and Lisa Loeb also performed an acoustic set.
