Italia 90′ World Cup hero name-checks Victor Boniface in Bayer Leverkusen praise
German football legend Rudi Voller has heaped praise on Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface alongside his Bayer Leverkusen teammates for their superb performance this season, Soccernet.ng reports.
Bayer Leverkusen have enjoyed their best-ever campaign this season. Under the tutelage of German tactician, they have won their first-ever Bundesliga title. They’ve also done it in outstanding fashion, as they are the only club yet to lose in Europe’s top five leagues.
They’ve been brilliant on the continent, reaching the semi-final of the Europa League, and they look in good stead to win it.
Die Werkself are apparently the wonder of the season. This is because not much was expected of them before the start of the season.
However, with their perfect blend of youth and experience, they have shaken Europe. Player like Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong have stepped up to the plate. Also, their two new Nigerian entrants Victor Boniface and Nathan Tella have been key in their success. Boniface has contributed 18 goals and ten assists in 30 appearances across all competitions.
German legend Voller, who won the World Cup with Germany in 1990 has been impressed with what he has seen from the team, and he has hailed the players.
“Xabi Alonso has put together a great squad and created a tactic that makes them seem invincible,” he told Spox.
“Granit Xhaka on the six, defending, Jeremie Frimpong and Alejandro on the wings Grimaldo, they have Victor Boniface and Patrik Schick at the front, Everything works”
With the Bundesliga sorted, Bayer Leverkusen will focus on the Europa League and the German Cup. They look very good and win the treble.
