Crystal Palace vs Man Utd: Preview, predictions and lineups

Manchester United are searching for only a second win in seven Premier League matches when they visit Crystal Palace on Monday night.

The Red Devils now know that Champions League qualification is mathematically impossible, with England not earning a fifth European spot for next season’s premier competition, but Erik ten Hag’s side are still in a promising position to qualify for the Europa League next term. However, after a 1-1 draw with Burnley last time out, confidence can’t be too high.

Crystal Palace are not the easiest opponents for Man Utd as they aim to get back on track, with Oliver Glasner having overseen some significant improvements since taking over from Roy Hodgson. The Eagles are unbeaten in their last four matches, including victories over Liverpool, West Ham United and Newcastle.

These two sides have already clashed twice this season, both coming at Old Trafford. The first saw Man Utd win 3-0 in the Carabao Cup in late September, but the London side got their revenge four days later with a 1-0 Premier League victory.

Here is 90min’s guide to Crystal Palace vs Man Utd.

Crystal Palace have been handed a double injury boost prior to Man Utd’s visit, with Glasner confirming that both Marc Guehi and Eberechi Eze should be fit and available for Monday’s clash. The former has been missing since early February, while the latter sat out the 1-1 draw with Fulham last time out.

However, the Eagles are still without a host of players, including long-term absentee Cheick Doucoure. Sam Johnstone, Rob Holding and Matheus Franca should all miss out at Selhurst Park, while Jefferson Lerma is a significant injury doubt.

Crystal Palace predicted lineup (5-2-3): Henderson; Munoz, Clyne, Andersen, Guehi, Mitchell; Wharton, Hughes; Olise, Mateta, Eze.

Man Utd’s rotten luck with injuries hasn’t eased up as we head into the final few matches of the season, with the Red Devils missing plenty of influential stars.

The defence has been most impacted by fitness issues, with Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia, Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, Victor Lindelof and Willy Kambwala all sidelined at present. Jonny Evans is also a doubt for the trip to London, but could yet be available for Ten Hag after returning to training.

Marcus Rashford is a significant absentee in the forward line, with Anthony Martial still rebuilding his fitness after returning to training last week. Scott McTominay could be involved despite missing training, while captain Bruno Fernandes may be able to play through an unspecified fitness problem at Selhurst Park according to Ten Hag.

Man Utd predicted lineup (4-2-3-1): Onana; Dalot, Evans, Maguire, Wan-Bissaka; Casemiro, Mainoo; Antony, Fernandes, Garnacho; Hojlund.

Crystal Palace have been in excellent form of late and even have a scalp at Anfield to their name, with Glasner having transformed the Eagles since his arrival. In their current mood, a visit from a misfiring Man Utd side ravaged by injuries won’t concern them all too much.

Ten Hag’s fitness woes mean that Man Utd are up against it at Selhurst Park and the most recent home draw with relegation-threatened Burnley will have chipped away at their confidence even further. Things could get worse in the capital on Monday night.
