Mats Hummels is confident Borussia Dortmund can win a second UEFA Champions League crown at Wembley next month. The German outfit booked their place in the final by securing a 2-0 aggregate victory over Paris Saint-Germain. They won the second leg in France 1-0 courtesy of defender Hummels’ bullet header, and he was quick to praise his team-mates for the way they handled the occasion.Mats Hummels, Emre Can and Nico Schlotterbeck of Borussia Dortmund celebrate victory in front of fans of Borussia Dortmund after defeating Paris Saint-Germain during the UEFA Champions League semi-final second leg match between Paris Saint-Germain and Bor

Mats Hummels insists Borussia Dortmund have long been confident that they can win the UEFA Champions League this season.
The defender netted a towering header in the second leg of their last-four clash with Paris Saint Germain, which was enough to secure a 1-0 victory on the night, 2-0 on aggregate.
Such a run deep into the tournament may be a surprise to some, but not to Hummels, who told TNT Sports: “Since the second match of the group stage, we’ve believed that we can prevail in every game – and I don’t see why we shouldn’t win at Wembley now.”
Dortmund have lifted the Champions League on one previous occasion, beating Juventus 3-1 in 1997.
Since then, they have been past the quarter-finals on just two occasions, losing in the semis a year later to Real Madrid, before finishing as runners-up to German rivals Bayern Munich in 2013.
Coincidentally, that fixture was also at Wembley, although Ä°lkay GündoÄŸan’s goal was not enough as his side lost 2-1.
Dortmund’s Champions League campaign started with an impressive group stage campaign, as they picked up 11 points from six games against AC Milan, Newcastle and, ironically, PSG.
Indeed, they lost 2-0 in the away game against the French outfit back in September, before drawing the return fixture 1-1.
Hummels was delighted to gain revenge for those results, while he was also thrilled to add to his goal tally for the campaign.
“I’ve scored far too few Champions League goals in my career, just five,” he continued. “Now is a good time to add to that number!
“We remained active today and were able to take so much pace out of the game and atmosphere out of the stadium. That was our recipe for success today.”
