Snl24 | JUST IN: Ukhozi FM presenter’s shocking illness revealed!

Ukhozi FM presenter Zanele Mbokazi, who struggled to do his shows in April.

AFTER much speculation regarding the health of Ukhozi FM presenter Zanele Mbokazi, the nature of her illness has been disclosed.

She has been diagnosed with lung cancer, a revelation made after she was hospitalised due to breathing difficulties and loss of voice while on air.

The incidents on Sunday, 21 April, where she couldn’t present her gospel show and the following on Sunday, 28 April, where she struggled to finish it and was urgently taken to the hospital, sparked widespread speculation among Ukhozi FM listeners about her condition.

Many feared she was suffering from the same illness that led to the death of another Ukhozi FM presenter, Bheka “Beekay” Mchunu in March, who also experienced breathing difficulties and loss of voice.

Zanele (52), a Durban native and founder of the Crown Gospel Music Awards, hosts Eshilo, Ukhozi FM’s highly popular gospel show, every Sunday.

Her husband, Bishop Mpendulo Nkambule has called for an end to the speculation, confirming that Zanele has been diagnosed with lung cancer.

“After she struggled to finish her show, we took her to the hospital because initially she had pain and we prayed, and the pain stopped. Then, we decided to check for the cause, doctors checked her and took her to the theatre for the operation to see what the problem was, and they had diagnosed her with lung cancer,” he said.

“Following her difficulty completing her show, we immediately sought medical attention. Initially, we prayed over her pain, which subsided. However, seeking further medical advice led to her operation, where doctors diagnosed her with lung cancer,” he explained.

Despite the shock this news has caused among family members, Bishop Nkambule expressed gratitude for the prayers and support from Zanele’s fans, various pastors, congregants, and Ukhozi FM listeners.

“We’re praying for her speedy recovery and God to be with us during this difficult time. We’re praying to God to do miracles because we know He’s capable of doing miracles,” he said.
