Former Super Eagles coach names Jay-Jay Okocha as best teammate

Former Super Eagles coach Augustine Eguavoen has revealed that the best player he played with during his career was Austin Jay-Jay Okocha, Soccernet.ng reports.

Okocha is regarded as one of the best dribbles that the game has ever produced. His ability to wriggle past markers ensured that he made a mark in most of the European clubs that he played at.

The 50-year-old played for Fenerbahce, Eintracht Frankfurt, Paris Saint-Germain, Bolton and Hull City. He was also a regular for the Super Eagles, registering 75 appearances for the three-time African champions.

Former Nigeria coach Eguavoen, who also made a name for himself while playing for the Super Eagles was one of the senior members of the team when Okocha just joined the roster. However, it seems the former Bolton man left a mark on him.

In a recent interview, Eguavoen revealed that the best player he played with in his career was Okocha.

Okocha and Eguavoen played together for Nigeriaā€™s Super Eagles 14 times from 1994 to 1998, and five of those ended in victories, while six ended in defeats.

They both played in the final of the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations, which Nigeria won. Eguavoen started at the heart of the defense, while Okocha partnered the legendary Sunday Oliseh in midfield.
