The NFL will release its full schedule Wednesday night, but that’s not stopping the league from dropping off at least one more preview.

This season’s five NFL International Games were announced Wednesday morning, starting with the Green Bay Packers and Philadelphia Eagles taking a trip to Brazil in Week 1.

The Packers and Eagles will be playing the first regular-season game to take place in Brazil, as the NFL continues to expand its international imprint. The NFL has played regular-season games in London every year since 2007 (save 2020) and will be returning to Germany for the third straight season in November when the New York Giants take on the Carolina Panthers.

Mexico has also played host to four regular-season games, and Spain is set to host a game in 2025.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell recently said he envisions expanding the league’s international footprint even more in the coming years.

“I honestly think we’ll be playing 16 games internationally if you go 10 years out,” Goodell said last month on ESPN. “I think we’ll try to get to eight or nine in the next couple years.

“The reaction we’re getting from the fans every time we play in a new market is incredible, so we’ll continue to play in London, we’ll continue to play in Germany and I hope continue to play in Brazil. We’ll be back in Mexico, but there are a lot of other markets that — obviously, we’re going to go to Spain next year, we’ve already planned that — but there are a lot of markets that want us to play there and we’re actively looking at all those, exploring that.”

Goodell also said he hopes to expand the regular season to 18 games in the future, which could give the NFL more opportunities overseas. In the event of an 18-game schedule, Goodell said teams would have two byes, offering a potential break for teams after their international travel.

Bye weeks will be among the things revealed later Wednesday, so it will be interesting to see how the NFL handles the teams traveling internationally.
