What Happened To OG Anunoby? Knicks Star’s Return Denied Fairytale Ending as Growing Absence Draws Concern
Despite his hamstring injuries and concerns, OG Anunoby suited up to play against the Indiana Pacers today in Game 7. But, as soon he started playing just for a few minutes, the struggle was visible. And despite his attempts to make a couple of contested jumps, he suddenly wasn’t on the court anymore. He just disappeared. As the pressure grows on the New York side, people wonder where did OG go? While some people on X have a creative theory, he went bicycling around the tunnel, there’s official news on what actually happened to him.
As it turns out, he started the game wonderfully well, but he’s no longer returning after the first half. He could play for only 5 minutes before he rushed back to the exit door, going back to the locker room. After leaving with approximately 7:19 minutes remaining on the clock, Miles McBridge replaced Anunoby, while he rode a stationary bicycle near the bench. As the third quarter started, official confirmation for OG’s status dropped. The update read, “Anunoby officially done for the afternoon due to the hamstring injury.”
Anunoby first suffered his hamstring injury in Game 2 of the Playoff series against the Pacers. He was trying to pull up a lane in quarter 3 of that game when his strain started. He was performing amazingly well for the Knicks when suddenly he was seen grabbing the back of his left leg, right after missing a shot before this incident. Later for Game 3, even though he decided to stick close to his team, he was only seen on the bench throughout. And just like that, he managed to miss 4 games back to back, only to give his team the short-lived “good news” tonight.

Can the Knicks survive OG Anunoby’s hamstring injury?Game 7 has been a disappointment for the Knicks so far. Considering the situation right now in the middle of Quarter 4, the Pacers lead with 112, while the Knicks are lagging behind by 12 points, at 99.
Even though Anunoby gave his best, he was just not healthy enough to play today. Even though he made 2 great shots, he wasn’t able to run around as smoothly as possible. He’s a crucial element for the team, especially in today’s game since this was New York’s first such game since 2000. There are massive chances that they will go out the Madison Square Garden with faces hung down, and not play against the Celtics in the Conference Finals.

The Knicks were reviving throughout the first half, but the Pacers kept overwhelming the team, without Anunoby and now without Brunson, who suffered another massive blow with his left-hand fracture in the second quarter. It seems the New York spirits are sinking slowly like the Titanic, with them hanging by the “board” just like Jack Dawson was. Along with the two, Donte DiVincenzo was also seen holding his abdomen through the game, visibly in pain. Highly possible that their season’s about to end, but even if there’s a 0.1% chance it does not, to battle it out against the Celtics, they’re not going to have anyone healthy.
The key for the Pacers today has been them being at their defensive best. The Knicks haven’t been at their aggressive best today, letting the Indiana side generate 4 huge turnovers and maintaining that intensity that looks like will lead them to the Finals. But their spirit remains one of the most electric ones in the NBA.
