While Saturday was meant to be a full on celebration, the party was spoiled by Cape Town City who ended Sundowns unbeaten run on the final day of the season.

Nevertheless, the loss did not dampen the Sundowns’ mood entirely as they finally got their hands of the trophy at Loftus Versfeld.

Mokwena has claimed his second league title as head coach and could add another trophy when they take on Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup final next weekend.

ā€œFirst is to celebrate, letā€™s enjoy this moment, victories, wins, trophies ā€“ these are not guaranteed,” Mokwena told SuperSport after the game.

“Itā€™s Godā€™s gift and we must accept them with a lot of humility and enjoy this moment, we are champions, we are seven-time champions and the next time we do the symbolic seven sign ā€“ itā€™s going to have significant meaning in every match,ā€ he added.
