Fortnite Ranked Cups Guide – How to Enter Fun New C5 Events

Fortnite Ranked Cups are back and bigger than ever. How do the Chapter 5 Ranked Cups differ and when can you enter?

Competitive Fortnite is kicking back off for the new season. Tournaments are great to sweat hard against the other top players. Or, you could go up against the exact players in your middle rank without too many sweats getting in the way!

One of the more fun additions to the Fortnite esports ecosystem lets you do that. Well, unless you’ve already done the grind up to Unreal. These events are the Fortnite Ranked Cups.

It’s a way to play against similarly matched players and even win some prizes. Chapter 5 Season 3 has even more of these Ranked Cups. Now across all formats of the game.

If you manage to score enough points in the session, you’ll earn exclusive cosmetics! Each is themed to show off the rank you reached, great for getting bragging rights a few seasons down the line. It’s also exclusive. If you’re a real collector you’ll want to make sure you’re grabbing it, or forever feel the shame of a missing ‘brella.

Unlike the FNCS or the Solo Victory Cash Cups, the Fortnite Chapter 5 Ranked Cups are a bit more open. Players can get involved in these tournaments at any rank in the game.

How do the Chapter 5 Fortnite Ranked Cups work and how can you get the free cosmetics on offer here?

Fortnite Ranked Cups

Ranked Cups debuted in OG and they’ve been growing throughout Chapter 5. These events seem to be taking the place of the old Hype tournaments. But with big improvements.

There’s actually a prize on offer this time. It isn’t quite cash prizes like in FNCS, but it’s something. These tournaments let players get an exclusive cosmetic, good for those into grabbing all free Fortnite skins. What’s fun about them too is that they’re running across formats. There is a pretty open style of event.

Players can jump into Fortnite Ranked Cups without having to fit into a really specific team format. There’s even the opportunity to solo queue and let a random fill join you for a tournament. This method is a bit rougher obviously, you might not be dominating with a complete random on your team. Although, you might still be able to earn the cosmetics this way if you don’t fancy roping a friend in.

How is the Tournament Playlist Different?

If Ranked is your first competitive events, there’s some stuff you need to know. Tournaments aren’t played on the same game as pubs, or even Ranked.

They have quite a few items missing. This season, the missing items currently are:

Cars in general
All Car Mods
Repair Torches
Service Stations
Shockwave Grenades
Spiked Bumpers
Vehicle Mod Boxes
War Busses

That’s what Epic’s announced at the start of the season. This likely will change as we progress though.  Even with Fortnite cars being nerfed, more items could be restricted from esports.

Free Rewards for Fortnite Chapter 5 Ranked Cups
The Fortnite Ranked Cups are offering an exclusive cosmetic just for taking part. These aren’t for winning the tournament though. Instead, all you need to do is get a certain number of points. These are the prizes for this season’s Fortnite Ranked Cups:

50 Points – Ranker’s Junker Brella

What’s cool about the Brella is it shows off your rank. The rank you’re playing in for the tournament will decide which one you unlock. It’s a nice touch to let players show off their rank long after the has ended. Some of these could end up being some of the rarest Fortnite cosmetics in the long run too.

Ranked Cup Tiers
The Fortnite Ranked Cups are running in a few different tiers. Weirdly, the very best players are all lumped in together. Whereas the more sparsely populated lower end of the Fortnite ranks have a tournament each. These are the Fortnite Ranked Cup tiers you can play in.

Bronze
Silver
Gold
Platinum
Diamon/Champion/Elite/Unreal

Each of these ranks gets its own lobbies and tournaments. Getting the Fortnite Chapter 5 Ranked Cups cosmetic is a bit easier in the lower ranks. Although, you run the risk of proudly displaying your rock-bottom rank on that cosmetic if you don’t grind up the tiers.

Points
That’s what you can unlock, but how do get points? The tournament has the same scoring for all formats:

Victory Royale – 65 Points
2nd – 55 Points
3rd – 48 Points
4th – 43 Points
5th – 38 Points
6th – 33 Points
7th – 30 Points
8th – 27 Points
9th – 24 Points
10th – 21 Points
11-15th – 18 Points
16 – 20th – 15 Points
21 – 25th – 12 Points
26 – 30th – 10 Points
31 – 35th – 8 Points
36 – 40 – 6 Points
41 – 50th – 4 Points
51 – 75 – 3 Points

There are also point for eliminations. Weirdly, this season this is going to be worth different amounts depending on which rank you’re in.

Bronze/Silver/Gold – 1 Point
Platinum/Diamond – 2 Points
Elite and Above – 3 Points

All Chapter 5 Fortnite Ranked Cups Tournaments – FN Ranked Cup Schedule
That’s how all of the Fortnite Ranked Cup tournaments work, when can you get involved with the tournaments and jump in though? This is the current schedule for the Fortnite Chapter 5 Ranked Cups:

Solo

June 1
June 8
June 22
July 22
July 27
August 10

Duos Ranked Cups

June 2
June 9
June 23
June 30
July 21
July 28
August 4
August 11

Squads

June 15
June 29
August 3

Those are all of the dates. Each of these are for both builds of the game. The dates are only really divided up by team size. However, timing with different regions technically splits it across two days.

Each of the Fortnite servers gets the same dates for Chapter 5 Fortnite Ranked Cups but within their time zones. It’s essentially just a time difference thing.

Zero Build Fortnite Chapter 5 Ranked Cups

Along with the standard Battle Royale mode, these events are running pretty much in parallel with the Fortnite Zero Builds mode. This is a nice addition for everyone who prefers to play with No Builds.

Although, if the current Fortnite player base is anything to go by, the Ranked mode is still a lot more popular for Builds right now.

That’s how all of the Fortnite Ranked Cups are going to work. With extra events and some free cosmetics, these are an interesting change.

There aren’t as many prizes this time around. As a dedicated tournament for anyone anywhere in the Fortnite environment though, there’s really nothing like Ranked Cups to test yourself out.
