The Metacritic scores are huge!

Today’s the day for Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance on Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S!

This brand-new release from ATLUS and SEGA is officially available to purchase on the Xbox Store (starting at £54.99 / $59.99), and if the reviews are anything to go by, it’s definitely worth your time and money this weekend!

Here are just a selection of reviews we’ve come across for Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance so far:

God Is A Geek (9.5/10)

“The new additions to the game are both numerous and wonderful, the combat is as compelling as it ever has been, and the world is a joy to explore. RPG fans would be foolish to miss out on this instant classic, so make sure you don’t.”

Game Informer (9/10)

“It’s just more SMT:V to dive into, which for an already jam-packed RPG full of narrative agency and monster-collecting action, is more food on the table for the feast. And it was a hell of a feast to begin with.”

Digital Trends (4.5/5)

“Shin Megami Tensei V was already an incredibly solid open-world RPG in 2021, and the new Vengeance version is well worth coming back for so much so that it makes the original completely obsolete.”

Press Start (8.5/10)

“Between a much improved narrative, the same addicting gameplay loop, heightened visuals and a smorgasbord of content, it’s hard to find a lot to dislike in this package.”

Stevivor (8/10)

“Overall, Shin Megami Tensei V Vengeance is all about building a more streamlined and player-friendly experience. While the game’s difficulty hasn’t gone anywhere, it feels like Vengeance is doing its best to make you enjoy that experience and remove as many roadblocks as possible.”

Push Square (7/10)

“Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance is the definitive way to play Atlus’ devilish game of demon fusion, with a new suite of bells and whistles to smooth over what can, at times, still be an abrasive gameplay experience. It’s incredibly combat-heavy, which can become oppressive, but working towards raising that perfect demon remains as engaging as ever.”

As things stand, Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance has a Metacritic score of 87 for PS5 and a whopping 91 for PC, while the Xbox Series X version is unscored for now. Based on those averages, it’s one of the best releases of 2024!
