Mamelodi Sundowns senior coach Manqoba Mngqithi’s agent Mike Makaab has responded to his client’s contract details revealed in court, in the club’s case against Pitso Mosimane’s agency MT Sports Marketing and Management.

Mngqithi’s contract with Sundowns, along with that of head coach Rulani Mokwena, was subpoenaed to the South Gauteng High Court by MT Sports lawyers, in defence of the litigation case against The Brazilians.

Following the Tshwane giants’ litigation that their former coach breached his contract after leaving a few months into a new four-year contract extension in May 2020 and that, as a result of a claw-back clause on his contract, he should pay back a portion of the amount, in the region R8,6 million, paid in advance to MT Sports as agency fees.

MT Sports, in their defence, through Director Moira Tlhagale, who is Mosimane’s wife, claim they feel discriminated against, as Mngqithi, represented by Makaab and Mokwena represented by Steve Kapeluschnik of JDR Consulting, do not have the claw-back clause on their contracts with Sundowns.

As a consequence of the subpoena of the duo’s contracts, the details of their financial agreements with the side were also revealed to the media.

Tlhagale testified that Makaab received R984,000 as commission for negotiating Mngqithi’s contract, which was effective from July 2020 to June 2024, as per SABC Sport.

Having gotten a response from Kapeluschnik after his contract with Sundowns was dragged to court, KickOff eventually got hold of Makaab, who also gave his stance on the issue.

“Listen, I was asked to provide certain documentation, which I happily provided, and I have absolutely nothing to do with the case between the two parties,” Makaab said.
