Leicester City exit looms as Wilfred Ndidi rejects fresh contract

Super Eagles and Leicester City midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi is edging closer to his exit from the club as he recently rejected a new contract offer, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Foxes recently appointed Steve Cooper as their manager after Enzo Maresca moved on to Chelsea following Mauricio Pochettino’s sack.

Soccernet.ng previously reported that Cooper is ready to delve into the transfer market to bring players to the club, but was waiting on Ndidi’s decision, whether he’d be staying at the King Power Stadium or not.

As per Caught Offside, the 27-year-old versatile midfielder has rejected another contract offer from Leicester City, seemingly making his mind up to leave the club as his current deal expires in three days.

The Nigeria international was an integral part of Leicester’s journey as they returned to the English Premier League from the Championships. Unless there’s a change in the next three days, he’ll be the second Super Eagles player to exit the King Power Stadium this season after Kelechi Iheanacho confirmed he won’t continue at the club last month.

Ndidi has a plethora of options, with offers from Olympique de Marseille, Aston Villa, Galatasaray, Trabzonspor, Everton, Atletico de Madrid and Barcelona sitting on the table of the former Genk midfielder.

The anchor man wants to return to the top level and seeks to play with a club participating in the UEFA Champions League next season.

Steve Cooper and Leicester City will now have to plan for life without Ndidi who joined the Foxes from Genk in 2017.
